AOC Desperate To Take Attention Off Her Lavish Spending

It is time for everyone to “reject the scarcity mental attitude that says doing good things for another person comes at the expense of something for ourselves,” according to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who over the weekend defended the Biden administration’s proposal to cancel a portion of student loan debt.

The far-left radical and ardent supporter of the cancellation of student loan debt defended the president’s decision to erase $10,000 to $20,000 for debtors in a post to Instagram over the weekend, contending that it is unfair for taxpayers to be incensed that their money is being used to pay off other people’s debts.

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it once more: Not every program needs to be for everyone. Apartment dwellers contribute to first-time homeowner advantages. Medicare is funded by young folks for our elderly. Reject the scarcity perspective that implies to do something nice for someone else comes at the expense of something for ourselves. Public transport users pay for vehicle infrastructure,” she argued. She did not, however, distinguish between performing good deeds for someone personally and the federal government imposing forced wealth redistribution.

She cited “one example: If a person is fortunate enough to have been able to have paid off their debts, maybe they have a home and now profited from the first time homebuyers programs that others crushed by student debt help subsidize when they are unable to buy a home due to student debt” as proof that Americans may “support something we won’t directly benefit from.”

As she is “also thinking about how this still remains a question mark for individuals in the highest levels of debt, who need the largest amount of aid,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, the Biden administration’s action is only a “first step.”

The far-left Democrat went on to criticize taxpayers who do not want to repay student loans that are not their responsibility, comparing them to people who do not buy into the left’s hysteria about climate change, many of whom are blatant hypocrites and demonstrate that they do not even truly believe it themselves. But in Ocasio-Cortez’s view, people who reject the left’s ideologies are being self-centered.

“For instance, no matter how many people may wish to think they can buy their way out of climate change, the wealthy will not be able to escape it. Our society’s potential to win and conquer in the face of the economic, ecological, and social crises we confront truly hinges on our capacity for SELFISHNESS to SELFLESSNESS,” she stated, chastising people:

“Because of this, it is likely that you are not prepared for climate change if you are outraged right now about student loan forgiveness. You are not prepared for your home to be inundated, to be destroyed by a wildfire, or for your family to have a medical emergency. Because when disaster strikes (which it always will), we must rely on others, which will be challenging or impossible if you’ve spent your entire life working against our ability to support one another in a variety of other ways even if we don’t directly benefit in the near term.”

Some estimates place the cost of Biden’s student loan forgiveness program at $500 billion.
