According to a leaked internal letter from October that was acquired by DailyMail.com, the GAO, the major watchdog agency for the government, released a new linguistic style guide that forbids the usage of words for men and women as well as “wording that diminishes any individual’s dignity” in the workplace.
The GAO is in charge of looking into government expenditures. The advice was sent in an “inclusive language” message from the agency’s top diversity management officer, Zina Merritt, according to the Daily Mail.
As stated in the document, “inclusive terminology makes it possible to support GAO’s objective by properly addressing every member of society,” the source said. “The overall objectives are to respect everyone’s identities as well as preferences and to refrain from using language that is demeaning to anyone’s humanity or dignity.”
The adjective “man-made” is to be replaced with “synthetic,” “artificial,” or “manufactured,” according to the style guide, which also proposes changing the word “manned” to “crewed” or to “piloted.” Other phrases that are prohibited include “policeman,” “manpower,” and “unmanned,” the site stated.
The message cautions employees to “avoid equating the two” and to “be mindful of the difference” between gender identity and sex, according to the Daily Mail.
“The letter warns against assuming that all individuals identify with the sex or gender binaries or that all persons have all the biological traits of their given sex when using binary language,” the source reports.
The Daily Mail said that the language rule forbids the use of “dehumanizing” phrases when talking about “individuals who aren’t U.S. citizens,” such as “illegal alien,” “alien,” “illegal immigrant,” and “illegals.”

Ron Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin, said, “If Biden along with the radical liberals in his administration had concentrated on the true issues facing America — forty-year high rates of inflation, out of control crime, borders that are open, and an upsurge of deadly drugs — rather than forcing woke Ideologies down our throats, our nation would be in a much stronger position to deal with the issues that he has exacerbated.”
