GOP Missouri state Representative Aaron McMullen shared the video on Saturday and later tweeted that the shouting took place at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence. The Adidas Wrestling Nationals, a K-12 event, took place at the arena from Thursday thru Saturday, according to the Kansas City Star.
“What’s going on in Independence, Missouri?” Along with the video, McMullen wrote. “Never let them tell you that we are losing our young. Brandon, let’s go!”
The video shows a big gathering of children slapping a wrestling mat while chanting “Let’s go, Brandon!” In recent years, the slogan has been heard at a number of athletic events as code for “F*** Joe Biden!”
According to the Star, McMullen agreed to an interview on Monday but didn’t respond to many follow-up messages and calls from the paper, and the tournament’s manager of events failed to respond to an email or telephone call requesting comment.
‘The pinnacle of indoctrination’
According to the Star, state Democrats attacked the film as political indoctrination of children and the chant’s obscene content.
“There are so many individuals ready to throw educators under the bus, defund schools, and fabricate stories involving teachers indoctrinating kids or those on the left indoctrinating kids,” Jessica Piper, executive director of Blue Missouri, a nonprofit that raises money for Democrats, told the newspaper. “Leading children in a chorus of ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ is the pinnacle of indoctrination, and they are doing it out there, and they’re ready to record and post it online.”
The vast majority of commentators appear to agree with Piper that the youngsters screaming “Let’s go Brandon!” is indoctrination, both on McMullen’s Twitter post as well as the Star piece about the matter that ran in Yahoo News.
On the other hand, it seems like it was perfectly fine for liberals to yell “F*** Donald Trump!” across the rooftops — no synonyms required — and to complain equally as loudly over “Let’s go, Brandon!”
