According to reports, a Democratic senator stated that President Biden becoming the party’s choice for president and then being unable to hold that position would be the “absolute nightmare scenario for Democrats.”
“The most alarming possibility is that President Biden becomes the nominee, at which point he will be unable to serve as the nominee any longer,” the source reportedly stated, as reported by the Washington Post.
As he nears his 81st birthday later this year and completes a second term in office, Biden will become the oldest president in American history. But, despite being very old, the current president seems likely to get his party’s nomination for president again.
As stated by Sharon Sweda from the Lorain County Democrat Party in Ohio, “he has reached a period of his life in which passing and death has become imminent,” the Post claimed. Sweda told the news source that she hears from individuals who are worried about Biden’s health. “We are all in a race against time. But when you are his age or even Trump’s age, that clock ticks a little faster, and that worries people.”
Former President Trump is 77 years old and is expected to get the Republican nomination for president once again. If he wins the presidency in 2024, he will be 82 years old by the completion of his second term.
A House Democrat revealed, according to The Post, that he has heard legislators and Democratic contributors questioning whether Biden can manage both a campaign plus a second four-year term. “You should not take any action that could potentially undermine the individual who will serve as your nominee,” the member is said to have said. “However, these worries are extremely legitimate.”
“President Biden is producing results, his plan of action is popular with the American people, and we are working to build our winning coalition of voters well in advance of next year’s general election,” Biden campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz stated, citing the president’s historic midterm performance, as reported by the Post. “In the election next year, voters will have to choose between President Biden and the far-right and disliked MAGA plan. No matter how much we worry about polls, in 2024 we will succeed if we keep our heads down and work hard.”
