An 18-year-old illegal alien from Honduras has been arrested in Greene County, Missouri, for allegedly targeting and luring a 15-year-old boy into a vicious ambush that left the kid dead. The victim’s name was Miles Young. He was fifteen years old. He had his entire life ahead of him. And now his family is burying him because Yefry Archaga-Elvir allegedly decided to murder him on March 12th.
Fifteen. Let that age sit with you for a second while Democrats in Washington argue about whether we’re being too mean to people who crossed the border illegally.
ICE issued a detainer request this week asking Missouri authorities not to release Archaga-Elvir. Think about that sentence. The federal government — whose entire job includes removing criminal illegal aliens from the country — had to formally request that a state not release a guy accused of murdering a child. That’s where we are. That’s the system.
The Department of Homeland Security put out a statement calling Archaga-Elvir a “monstrous illegal alien.” They don’t use that kind of language often. When DHS calls someone monstrous, you can bet the details of the case are even worse than the headlines.
According to authorities, this wasn’t a random act of violence. Archaga-Elvir allegedly targeted Miles Young specifically. He lured him. He set up an ambush. A 15-year-old kid walked into a trap set by someone who should never have been in this country in the first place.
And here’s the question that every single Democrat who spent the last four years fighting border enforcement needs to answer: How did Yefry Archaga-Elvir get here? How did an 18-year-old from Honduras end up in Springfield, Missouri, with enough freedom of movement to allegedly plan and execute the murder of an American child?
We know how. We all know how. He got here because for four years, the Biden administration treated the southern border like a suggestion. They released millions of people into the interior of the country with nothing more than a court date that most of them would never show up for. They dismantled the Remain in Mexico policy. They ended Title 42 enforcement. They gutted interior enforcement. They turned ICE into a paper-pushing agency that couldn’t do its job even when it wanted to.
Miles Young is dead because of those policies.
Now, the same people who opened the border will tell you that “immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native-born citizens.” They love that statistic. They trot it out every single time an illegal alien commits a violent crime, like it’s some kind of magic shield that makes the victim’s family feel better.
You know what? Tell that to Miles Young’s parents. Walk into their living room, look at the empty chair at their dinner table, and explain to them that statistically, their son’s murder was an outlier. See how that goes over.
The crime rate isn’t the point. The point is that every single crime committed by an illegal alien is a crime that was 100% preventable. If the border had been enforced, if immigration law had been followed, if Archaga-Elvir had never been in this country, Miles Young would be alive today. Period. Full stop. No asterisks.
This is exactly why the Trump administration’s border numbers matter. Eleven straight months of zero releases at the southern border. A 95% drop in daily apprehensions. Nearly 500,000 removal orders issued by immigration courts last year. Every single one of those numbers represents future tragedies prevented — kids who won’t be lured into ambushes, families who won’t get the worst phone call of their lives.
The system that let Archaga-Elvir into this country is the same system that Democrats want to go back to. They want to defund ICE. They want to abolish immigration detention. They want to give driver’s licenses and work permits and in-state tuition to people who broke into the country illegally. And when one of those people murders a child, they want to change the subject to statistics.
We’re not changing the subject. His name was Miles Young. He was fifteen years old. He’s dead. And the man accused of killing him should never have been here.
That’s not a talking point. That’s a fact. And no amount of hand-wringing about “comprehensive immigration reform” is going to bring that boy back to his family.
