When asked directly if Pennsylvania Dems are making it harder for Kamala Harris to get elected in the state, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) did not give a straight answer.
Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) has released a new ad in which he brags about how he “bucked Biden to guard fracking” and agreed with Trump on putting tariffs on China “to stop the country from cheating.” Sanders was asked about this ad. The ad came out at the same time that former President Trump is running for president again and Casey is running for re-election against Republican Dave McCormick in 2024.
Sanders talked about his views on CNN’s State of the Union. “Well, at a time when we have more wealth inequality in this nation than we have ever had, when we are the only major nation on Earth that doesn’t guarantee healthcare to everyone, when we have a $7.25 minimum wage, and when so many seniors need to see their Social Security increased, I believe that the winning topics are taking on big business greed,” he said.
“And battle for the working class against the rich, who have never had it so good. That’s what I think should be done.”
CNN’s Jake Tapper then asked about Harris’s changes of heart on a number of issues before the election, such as her decision not to back the Green New Deal or ban fracking. Sanders said Harris’s change of mind was part of “a coalition” working together to defeat Trump, who he called a “very dangerous candidate,” in the 2024 presidential race.
Sanders was then asked if the Democratic Party is worried about Harris’s support from Arabs in Michigan, especially if Prez. Joe Biden’s support for Israel during its conflict with the terrorist group Hamas could make this group of voters less likely to back Harris in the swing state. Sanders responded that Israel has the right to protect itself against Hamas because it is a “terrible terrorist organization,” but not the right “to go to war against the whole Palestinian people.”
