Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, brought his sixth busload of immigrants to the sanctuary city of LA. 44 migrants were transported by bus from the border area of Texas to the City of Angels.
The bus carrying 44 migrants landed in LA this week, according to ABC7 Los Angeles, traveling from Colombia, Haiti, Honduras, China, Peru, Mexico, and Venezuela. The bus’s starting point was Brownsville, a border town in south Texas.
14 children between the ages of two and fourteen were among the migrants transported by bus, according to representatives of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA).
After the migrants arrived, the Los Angeles mayor’s office issued a statement claiming that they had been made aware of the bus’ impending arrival this week. To handle the arrival of 44 refugees, the city put its “plan” into action.
Over 700 immigrants entered the southern part of Texas through the Rio Grande Valley Sector on the very same day that Brownsville’s 44 immigrants arrived in LA, according to a law enforcement source. The day prior, an additional 941 people entered the area.
Governor Abbott came under harsh criticism from Angelica Salas, the CHIRLA Executive Director, because he offered free, air-conditioned buses to transport the volunteer immigrants to their intended destination of the city of Los Angeles.
“Actions ordered by Gov. Abbott of Texas against migrants and refugees have been outrageous, and perhaps criminal,” she declared. “We remind Gov. Abbott that every person’s life is important and safeguarded under the UN’s Human Rights Charter and that we deplore the dehumanization of migrants and refugees everywhere.”
She made no mention of the rules that were broken by the migrants’ voluntarily busing from Texas to California.
The CHIRLA director stated, “Operation Lone Star is a dubious initiative propelled by xenophobia and devoid of human decency. The most recent instance of this governor crossing the line was the busing of thousands of asylum seekers to many other states, notably Los Angeles, California.”
Breitbart Texas reported that in June, just after the city proclaimed itself to be a “sanctuary city,” Gov. Greg Abbott started busing refugees to Los Angeles.
In a written statement at the time, Gov. Greg Abbott argued that “President Biden’s unwillingness to secure the border had left Texas small border communities overwhelmed and overrun by hundreds of thousands of people entering illegally into Texas from Mexico. Migrants frequently travel to Los Angeles, especially now that the city council has approved its designation as a self-declared sanctuary city.”
