Massie Launches Bold Bid to Rein in War Powers

In a stunning betrayal of conservative values and American leadership, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) announced Monday that he is teaming up with the likes of AOC and Rashida Tlaib to block President Trump from supporting Israel in its defensive war against Iran.

Yes, you read that right—Massie is siding with the very Democrats who have spent years undermining Israel, apologizing for Iran, and demonizing President Trump. His plan? Introduce a so-called “bipartisan War Powers Resolution” to restrict American involvement in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.

“This is not our war,” Massie declared on X, echoing the same tired isolationist rhetoric we’ve heard from the far left for decades. “But if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution.”

Massie may believe he’s defending constitutional principles, but let’s be honest: his move only empowers America’s enemies and weakens Trump’s hand as he leads the free world against the growing Iranian threat.

Massie didn’t have to wait long for applause from his new friends on the left. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) quickly chimed in, proudly co-leading the resolution and declaring it “privileged,” meaning it must be brought to a vote.

“No war in Iran,” Khanna said, spinning the issue into a false choice between “neocons” and “the American people.” In reality, the American people stand with Israel—and they elected President Trump to lead with strength.

Other far-left radicals followed suit. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.)—both of whom have made careers out of bashing Israel—immediately threw their support behind Massie’s resolution.

“Signing on,” AOC posted gleefully. Tlaib added, “The American people aren’t falling for it again,” comparing the defense of Israel to the Iraq War and claiming Trump would violate the Constitution by acting without a congressional vote.

What they’re really saying is this: They don’t trust Trump. They don’t support Israel. And they’re doing everything they can to kneecap the commander-in-chief in the middle of a global crisis.

Fortunately, not every Republican is falling for the left’s game. Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), who received President Trump’s endorsement last month, had a crystal-clear message:

“If AOC and Massie are a yes, that’s a good bet that I’ll be a no,” he said. “Iran, China, Russia, and North Korea are not our friends… A nuclear Iran will seek to eradicate Israel and all but ensure WWIII. We must stand with Israel.”

Lawler is exactly right. This is not just about one resolution or one conflict—it’s about whether America stands with its allies or retreats into weakness. Iran has made its intentions clear. Israel is under threat. And President Trump has vowed to support our greatest ally in the Middle East with strength and resolve.

Let’s not kid ourselves—Massie’s resolution may sound principled on paper, but its real-world impact is dangerous. It tells Iran that the U.S. is divided. It tells Israel that help might not come. And it tells President Trump that his own party can’t be trusted to back him when it counts.

Even Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) jumped in with a similar resolution in the Senate, warning against an “endless conflict” with Iran. That’s the left’s favorite phrase—endless conflict—used every time they want to abandon allies and shrink America’s role in the world.

But we’ve been down this road before. Weakness invites war. Strength prevents it. And right now, Trump is the only one standing between Israel and annihilation.

Massie’s move is more than a political misstep—it’s a dangerous alliance with those who hate Israel and have never supported Trump’s America First vision. At a time when Iran is enriching uranium and threatening war, the last thing we need is a divided front in Congress.

President Trump deserves the full backing of every Republican. Massie may have forgotten who the enemy is—but the American people haven’t.

It’s time to stand with Israel. Stand with Trump. And say no to political games that put our allies—and our future—in danger.
