The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly deporting more illegal immigrants than the administration of previous President Donald Trump, despite data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicating otherwise, according to the establishment media.
Politico, for instance, seems to attribute Biden’s creation of Title 42, the public health order that Trump first employed to block immigration during the coronavirus outbreak in China. Biden terminated Title 42 in May 2023.
Politico points out that deportations of illegal immigrants from the U.S. interior differ from Title 42 expulsions at the border between the United States and Mexico, but the piece subsequently mixes the two, stating that Biden and Harris have “kicked out millions more migrants than Trump ever managed to.”
A Reuters reporter made a similar statement, combining ICE officers’ deportations of illegal immigrants residing in the U.S. interior with migrant returns at the southern border by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to assert that “Biden is currently deporting more people than Trump.”
Actually, under Biden and Harris, the number of illegal aliens deported by ICE from American cities and towns has drastically decreased. According to data gathered by the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), Biden and Harris have reduced the number of illegal immigrants deported from the United States interior by more than half, despite Trump having overseen the deportation of almost a million people.
RJ Hauman, president of NICE, told Breitbart News that “the media is trying overtime to cover up Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ record of refusing to deport illegal aliens who arrived on their watch and continue to damage American neighborhoods.”
“It is really simple to refute this blatant manipulation of the Biden-Harris administration’s own deportation statistics,” Hauman added. “No amount of adoring media publicity can make up for what Biden and Harris have done to our country’s safety and security.”
Former ICE official Jon Feere, who currently works for the Center for Immigration Studies, claims that it was “a trick that [former President Barack] Obama pulled too” for the media to link deportations of illegal aliens from the interior of the United States with migrant returns at the border. Obama claimed to have deported millions of illegal aliens.
According to Feere, Biden and Harris’ government not only harbors considerably more criminal illegal aliens in the country than Trump’s, but they are also deporting hundreds of thousands fewer people than Trump did.
“After analyzing the statistics, I discovered that the Biden administration saw a 57 percent drop in criminal immigrant arrests and a 67 percent drop in criminal alien deportations. This is the outcome of the Biden administration’s overt attempt to let criminal foreigners stay in the country; it is not a subtle change in policy. Anybody writing about immigration should be well-versed in the statistics, which are also easy to get.”
“The data also demonstrates a 44 percent decline in detainee requests made by the Biden administration for criminal aliens. This indicates that the administration is deliberately choosing not to place thousands of criminal aliens in ICE custody, even though local law enforcement has already arrested them for crimes and ICE officers could easily pick them up.”
Biden and Harris have significantly expanded ICE’s “non-detained docket,” in addition to deporting fewer illegal aliens from the interior of the United States. Although ICE is aware of the migrants on the non-detained docket, they are free to reside anywhere in the United States while they await their deportation proceedings.
Only a small percentage of the non-detained are under ICE’s surveillance.
There were approximately 7.4 million migrants on ICE’s non-detained docket as of June. Estimates indicate that there will be over eight million migrants on the waiting list by the end of 2024.
The number of non-detained cases on the docket has significantly increased since Trump took office. For example, there were over 3.2 million migrants on the waiting list when Trump departed office in early 2021.
“In November, the American people have a clear choice: a left-wing fanatic who has served as both the “Abolish ICE Director” and an active enforcer of our immigration laws,” according to Hauman.
