Melania Trump presided over the United Nations Security Council today, becoming the first sitting First Lady in American history to lead one of the most powerful bodies in international diplomacy. The Left spent the last decade telling us she was just a trophy wife with a funny accent. How’d that work out for you, guys?
Ha! Somebody check on the feminists. They’re supposed to love it when powerful women break glass ceilings — unless the woman happens to be married to Donald Trump. Then she’s just arm candy who doesn’t deserve a seat at the table.
The session focused on how children, technology, and education in conflict zones can promote tolerance and strengthen global security. In other words, Melania was leading a discussion on protecting kids and building peace while the same Democrats who claim to own those issues were busy having mental breakdowns on cable news about Operation Epic Fury.
Let’s put this in perspective. There have been plenty of First Ladies over the years. Not a single one of them ever sat at the head of the UN Security Council.
Remember Michelle Obama? The media spent eight years telling us she was the most accomplished, most educated, most “stunning and brave” First Lady in history. She was on the cover of every magazine.
Oprah had her on the show so many times they should have given Michelle her own parking spot. And what did Michelle actually do with all that influence?
She redesigned the school lunch menu so kids could eat cardboard-flavored vegetables. That was her big legacy.
Meanwhile, she famously couldn’t be bothered to show up to events that required actual effort. She skipped Trump’s inauguration this January because she was still pouting about 2016.
A full decade of pouting. That takes commitment.
(For anyone keeping score at home: Melania showed up, sat down, and ran the UN Security Council. Michelle couldn’t even show up to sit in a chair and watch.)
Melania wrote about all of this in her memoir, by the way. She detailed exactly how nasty the Obamas were during the 2017 transition — withholding information, freezing her out, making the whole process as miserable as possible.
We already knew the Obamas were petty and vindictive. Melania just confirmed it in writing for the historical record.
And now here’s Melania — the woman the media spent years calling a trophy wife — running the show at the United Nations while ambassadors from countries you can’t find on a map had to sit there and listen. The woman speaks five languages. How many does Joy Behar speak? One, and she’s not great at it.
She took four years of the nastiest media treatment any First Lady has ever endured, then came back and signed up for four more. That’s not “brave” by liberal standards, though, because she didn’t cry about it on a podcast.
The “feminists” should be throwing her a parade. A legal immigrant who came to this country, became a citizen, learned the language (plus four others), married a future president, and is now chairing the UN Security Council. But apparently none of that counts if you didn’t vote for Hillary.
Whoops! Wrong kind of empowered woman. The same crowd that screams about shattering glass ceilings had nothing but contempt for Melania from day one.
They made fun of her accent. They mocked her Christmas decorations. They attacked a jacket she wore.
These are the same people who gave Jill Biden a standing ovation for getting a mail-order doctorate. But a multilingual former model who just chaired the Security Council? “She’s just arm candy.” Unbelievable.
Turns out the pretty face just ran the UN Security Council while they were all on Twitter crying about Iran.
Here’s what really drives the Left insane about Melania. She doesn’t care what they think. She never has. She’s not out there doing teary-eyed interviews with Oprah or posting selfies with “I Voted” stickers like she’s trying to win a popularity contest at a middle school.
She just shows up and does the job. And the job today happened to be running the UN Security Council. No big deal.
That’s called class — something the Democrats haven’t seen in a First Lady since they ran the Obamas’ school-lunch crusader out there to lecture us about our eating habits.
While the media melts down about Operation Epic Fury and the usual parade of hysterical pundits warns us that World War III is starting any minute now, Melania Trump calmly walked into the United Nations and chaired the Security Council.
First Lady. First ever. And she made it look easy.
