Rep. Crockett Sparks Outrage: Honors Denied for Murdered Icon

In today’s America, it seems that truth and respect for our fellow citizens are often thrown aside for politics and division. That was made clear again this week when Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas voted against a House resolution honoring the late Charlie Kirk, a conservative commentator who spent his life speaking up for faith, family, and freedom. Rep. Crockett went on national television and said she was the real victim—not Kirk, who was murdered—but herself.

Let us take a moment to understand what has happened here. A man was assassinated. Whether you agreed with all of his views or not, Charlie Kirk was a young American who loved his country deeply. He gave a voice to millions of people who felt ignored by the political elite, and he did so without fear. Now, instead of joining her fellow lawmakers to show unity and respect, Rep. Crockett used this tragedy to push more division and bitterness.

She said that Charlie Kirk’s words were harmful to people of color and that because he once criticized her, she could not support honoring him. She even went so far as to call him a “new age Confederate relic.” These are strong words, and they are not fair. They are not based on truth, but on political anger. Kirk never called for violence. He spoke firmly, yes—but never with hate. He challenged ideas, not people. That is what free speech looks like.

It is especially troubling that Rep. Crockett made this about race. She complained that too few white Democrats joined her in voting against the resolution. She said that this “hurt her heart.” But the American people are tired of identity politics. We are all Americans. We are not defined by the color of our skin, but by our character and our commitment to this great nation. When someone dies—especially in such a terrible way—we should come together, not tear each other apart.

To act as if you are the victim when another person has lost his life is not just selfish—it is deeply un-American. Our country was built on the idea that we honor those who speak truth, even if we do not always agree with them. We do not silence them. We do not tarnish their memory. And we certainly do not use their death to score political points on cable news.

Charlie Kirk did what many are afraid to do. He stood up to the radical left. He defended traditional family values. He believed in God and the Constitution. And that made him a target. The fact that his death is being treated as a political game by people like Rep. Crockett should alarm every patriotic American.

We live in a time when good is called evil, and evil is called good. When those who speak honestly are smeared, and those who stir up division are praised. But we must not lose hope. We must remember who we are. We must teach our children to speak with respect, to honor the dead, and to love their country.

Let us not forget that our strength as a nation depends on unity—not blind agreement, but unity in purpose, in respect, and in love of country. We can disagree without being cruel. We can debate without destroying. And we can honor the fallen without turning their memory into a political weapon.

Charlie Kirk’s voice may be gone, but his message lives on. It lives on in every American who still believes in truth, in freedom, and in the greatness of this land. Let us carry that torch forward with dignity, even when others refuse to do the same. Let us be better than those who choose bitterness over grace. And let us never stop standing for what is right.
