The latest move on this front comes from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who recently issued a directive instructing State Department employees to report any anti-Christian bias that occurred during Biden’s disastrous term in office.
A cable obtained by The Epoch Times through a Freedom of Information Act request reveals that Rubio’s directive explicitly calls on State Department employees to report incidents of anti-religious bias—especially those targeting Christians—during the previous administration (2021-2025). The cable directs employees to provide detailed information regarding discriminatory practices and encourages recommendations to correct such abuses moving forward.
This initiative is not only welcome—it is absolutely necessary. For too long, Christian Americans were mocked, marginalized, and targeted by a government bureaucracy weaponized by the Biden administration’s leftist ideology. President Trump recognized this threat early on and made clear in his February executive order that his administration will not tolerate government-sanctioned discrimination against Christians.
President Trump minces no words in his order, stating boldly, “It is the policy of the United States…to protect the religious freedoms of Americans and end the anti-Christian weaponization of government.” He further accused Biden-era officials of “engaging in an egregious pattern of targeting peaceful Christians while ignoring violent, anti-Christian offenses,” specifically highlighting the hypocritical persecution of pro-life demonstrators.
Rubio’s cable lists disturbing examples of bias, including State Department employees who were unfairly punished or pressured for seeking religious exemptions to vaccine mandates, observing religious holidays, or displaying religious symbols at their desks or on their clothing. Even more shocking, some employees were reportedly harassed or mistreated for refusing to participate in woke ideological crusades, including the forced use of “preferred personal pronouns,” which directly contradict many individuals’ sincerely held religious beliefs.
These revelations came to light during the first meeting of the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias, established by President Trump’s executive order, in which Rubio participated. The meeting exposed troubling reports of Christian Foreign Service officers being threatened with IRS audits or child abuse investigations simply because they chose to homeschool their children. Other employees were reportedly labeled “murderers” and “troublemakers” for opposing vaccine mandates on religious grounds. One especially egregious case involved an ambassador publicly berating an employee, accusing them of endangering the ambassador’s elderly mother due to their religiously motivated vaccine exemption—despite the ambassador’s mother residing safely in the United States.
Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been instrumental in rooting out anti-Christian abuses, summed it up succinctly: “Biden’s Department of Justice abused and targeted peaceful Christians while ignoring violent, anti-Christian offenses. Thanks to President Trump, we have ended those abuses, and we will continue to work closely with every member of this Task Force to protect every American’s right to speak and worship freely.”
The Biden administration’s open disdain for religion—and Christianity in particular—was no secret. From weaponizing the FBI against pro-life advocates to labeling parents concerned about radical gender ideology in schools as domestic terrorists, these abuses were widespread and systemic. President Trump’s decisive action to reverse this troubling trend underscores precisely why millions of Americans continue to support his bold America First agenda.
This latest initiative by Secretary Rubio and the Trump administration is a powerful statement that religious liberty is not a second-class right in America. It is a fundamental freedom, central to our nation’s founding. By exposing and eliminating anti-Christian bias in our government institutions, the Trump administration is reaffirming its commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of every American citizen.
