Democrats claim that in order to protect Americans from the deadly drug crisis, the GOP must vote for their immigration expansion measure on Thursday, despite the fact that fentanyl from China and Mexico kills 70,000 people in the United States every year.
One day ahead of the planned Senate vote on the Democratic-sponsored immigration package, Sen. Jeane Shaheen (D-NH) announced on Wednesday, “It is our job to take action to get these drugs out of our communities and to keep families safe.”
“We must pass the bipartisan border agreement because of this.”
Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) added, “Republicans have a decision to make: either they can show with their vote that they were never serious about border security and preventing the flow of fentanyl and other drugs, or they can demonstrate that they are concerned about these issues at all.”
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) stated on Wednesday, “We have to do something,” and added:
“I appreciate my Democratic colleagues being here today and emphasizing the significance of this for the migration measure.” Our Republican colleagues are currently engaged in a discussion about “the borders!” Shut down the borders—fentanyl is present! This bill will significantly reduce the supply of fentanyl. Will they play politics, or will they follow through on their words with their votes? It really is that easy.”
However, by increasing the number of asylum and parole gateways, the Democrats’ border measure would hasten President Joe Biden’s influx of low-wage economic migrants; it would not assist with deportations or employment of illegal immigrants. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) boastfully tweeted, “The border never closes,” at the February unveiling of the border measure.
Progressive writer Greg Sargent stated the law will enable “more migrants to get here successfully and efficiently.”
Democratic resistance to the GOP’s competing HR-2 measure, which would decrease immigration and drug smuggling, is evident. At a news conference on Wednesday, Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) stated, “HR-2 would protect the border.” She added:
However, Schumer and Durbin (R-Il) lack the guts to introduce that bill and have a meaningful conversation about border security. “We are going to take it up because we are sick of watching kids die from fentanyl poisoning,” is not a statement they are willing to make.
“The American people possess intelligence; they recognize cynicism and dishonesty when they witness them.” Sen. John Conyers of Texas informed the press. He continued, saying:
“After three and a half years of open border policy, Senator Schumer and President Biden somehow claim to be the border security party.” They appear to have the ability to make decisions without consulting anyone. Seventy-one thousand people [died from fentanyl poisoning in 2023], and now the Democrats are saying they care about the issue after three years of doing nothing but helping to spread this poison to our children across the nation.”
As the Washington Post released fresh information on how fentanyl is killing American youths, the Democrats made clear that they were willing to sacrifice fentanyl curbs for their pro-migration bill:
“A Washington Post study of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics released this month shows that since the start of the pandemic, fentanyl has mostly fueled a more than tripling of overdose deaths among children ages 12 to 17 across the nation.” Overdose deaths in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia are consistent with the nationwide rise in opioid-related deaths, which up until recently mostly involved adult victims. According to data, 45 teenagers in the area died from opioid overdoses in 2022—nearly the same as the total for the preceding three years. The incomplete data for 2023 also suggests that the youth crisis is not improving.
The newspaper stated that “addiction specialists say that fentanyl-laced pills are frequently marketed online at $2 to $10 a piece, easy to disguise, and may swiftly lead to severe dependence — or worse.”
Politicians claim to be supporters of racial minorities, yet, as the Post pointed out:
“CDC data show that while white teens account for the majority of adolescent opioid deaths, black and Hispanic teens are now dying at a quicker rate.”
Killer pill deliveries into American neighborhoods are speeding up substantially in China and Mexico, thanks to the cartels’ ability to transfer their gang members across Biden’s border.
The National Institutes of Health said on May 13 that, in comparison to 2017, the quantity of individual fentanyl-containing tablets recovered by law enforcement was 2,300 times higher in 2023. The data indicates that law enforcement found over 115 million pills between 20 and 23, compared to 50,000 in 2017 and 5 million in 2020.
The amount of immigration from Mexico in 2023 is eleven times higher than it was in Biden’s first year as president.
