A new CBS News poll reveals that six in 10 Americans are optimistic about the next four years under President-elect Donald Trump—a sentiment that surpasses the 58% optimism at the start of Joe Biden’s presidency and even edges out Trump’s first term eight years ago by four points. That’s right, the mainstream media’s nonstop doom-and-gloom narrative hasn’t dampened the American spirit, especially as voters anticipate a return to policies that prioritize common sense and prosperity.
The poll highlights particularly high optimism among young adults aged 18-29, with 67% feeling hopeful about the Trump administration. Even more striking, 52% of respondents expect the economy to improve in 2025, a significant jump from the mere 38% who think the current economy is in good shape. In other words, Americans are ready for Trump to steer the ship back on course after four years of economic turbulence under Biden.
When it comes to kitchen table issues, the numbers tell a clear story. Nearly 40% of respondents, including an overwhelming 74% of Trump voters, believe grocery prices will finally go down during Trump’s upcoming term. With inflation hammering wallets under the current administration, it’s no surprise that 42% of Americans expect Trump’s policies to leave them better off financially, compared to only 28% who expect to be worse off. Among Trump voters, that optimism soars to 77%.
Trump’s policies on immigration remain popular, with 55% of Americans approving of his vow to deport illegal migrants. That number climbs to nine in 10 among Trump voters, reaffirming the broad support for secure borders and rule of law. On the issue of tariffs, however, opinions are more divided, with 54% opposing Trump’s plan to impose tariffs on imported goods. Yet, 82% of Trump voters back the policy, signaling a clear divide between the general electorate and Trump’s loyal base.
Despite relentless efforts by the left to paint Trump as divisive, these numbers reflect an undeniable truth: Americans are ready for leadership that prioritizes their economic well-being, national security, and the values that make this country great. The optimism isn’t just a statistic—it’s a mandate. Trump’s second term is shaping up to be a rejection of the failures of the Biden administration and a return to policies that put America first.
