The Most Unpopular Senator Is Exactly Who You Would Think

According to a Wednesday Morning Consult poll, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) are the two least popular senators in the country.

Only 29% of those who were registered to vote thought favorably of McConnell, while 64% did not.

Following the midterm elections, McConnell established a record for the longest tenure as a party leader in the Senate.

Real wages for American workers have not increased, illegal immigration has continued, and the national debt has climbed by about $20 trillion under McConnell’s GOP leadership. In 2010, Obamacare came into effect. In 2008, big banks received bailout money, while social media firms silenced people without suffering any consequences. Additionally, McConnell has approved $100 billion in assistance for Ukraine in 2022.

Sinema, a former Democrat who left her party in December, received the second-lowest approval rating among senators. Only 37% of people supported Sinema. There was a 48% disapproval rate.

In 2024, Sinema will run for reelection. She might have switched to an independent party because of the forthcoming election. The purple, swing state of Arizona.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) allowed Sinema to change her allegiance without facing repercussions after she quit the party. Sinema will continue to caucus with the Democrats and keep her committee positions that they have allotted for her.

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), a fanatic on the far left, is considering challenging Sinema in the Democratic primary.

There are other unpopular lawmakers up for reelection in 2024 besides Sinema. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who is from a state that supported former President Donald Trump by nearly 40 percentage points, received only 40% of the national vote, according to the survey. 53 percent expressed disapproval.

Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV), a contender for Manchin, has formally entered the Republican race. Governor Jim Justice (R) and Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) are two further potential rivals (R).

In 2024, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) will also be running for reelection. His national approval rating was merely 46%, according to the poll. Fifty-five percent were against it.

Romney might have a challenger in the Republican primary. Sean Reyes, the attorney general of Utah, is most likely to challenge Romney. Reyes is widely seen as a candidate for America First.

Between October 1 and December 31, 2022, a representative sample of registered voters in each state was surveyed. Five percentage points were the error margin.
