Trump-Appointed Judges Overturn Radical Military Ruling

In a world that often feels upside down, it is good to see that some judges still have the courage to do what is right for our country. This week, two judges appointed by President Trump stood up for truth, order, and the strength of our military. They put a stop to an activist judge’s attempt to force social experiments on our fighting forces. And in doing so, they helped restore common sense to a place where it is desperately needed.

Let us be clear: the military is not a testing ground for radical social agendas. It is a fighting force, designed to protect the American people from enemies abroad. Its mission is to win wars, not to accommodate every new identity fad pushed by the left. That is why War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s policy banning those who suffer from gender dysphoria from serving in the military is not only right, it is necessary.

Some people may not want to hear it, but the truth still matters. Men cannot become women. Women cannot become men. And no amount of surgery, hormones, or wishful thinking can change that. The military depends on discipline, unity, and readiness. Allowing individuals who reject the basic truths about their own biology into that environment weakens the entire force.

President Trump understood this when he signed the executive order “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness.” That order made it clear: if someone cannot live truthfully within their own body, they cannot meet the high standards required of America’s warriors. It is not hateful to say this. It is responsible leadership.

Yet not everyone agrees. U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes, a Biden appointee with a long history of left-wing activism, tried to block this common-sense policy. She claimed it was based on animus—that is, hatred—toward transgender people. She said the policy violated constitutional rights. But in doing so, she ignored decades of military precedent and inserted her own political views where they do not belong.

Thankfully, her decision has now been overturned by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Judges Gregory Katsas and Neomi Rao, both appointed by President Trump, reminded us all that the Constitution does not require the military to abandon its standards. They pointed to a recent Supreme Court ruling which upheld a Tennessee law banning dangerous medical procedures on children. That ruling made it clear that laws based on protecting public health and safety do not amount to discrimination.

Judge Katsas also reminded us of something even more basic: the courts should not second-guess the judgment of military leaders. The Pentagon has every right to decide who is fit to serve. And when it comes to gender dysphoria, the evidence is clear. Those who suffer from this condition face serious mental health challenges. That alone should disqualify them from military service, where stability and mental toughness are essential.

Of course, the dissenting judge, an Obama appointee, disagreed. She wrote a long and emotional opinion, more like an activist pamphlet than a legal ruling. She worried about hurting people’s feelings. She quoted tweets and soundbites. But she missed the bigger point: the military is not about feelings. It is about strength, honor, and winning wars.

We live in a time when truth is under attack. The left pushes lies about gender, morality, and the very nature of man and woman. They try to use the courts to force their agenda on everyone else. But this ruling is a sign of hope. It shows that with strong leadership and faithful judges, we can push back against the tide.

President Trump promised to restore our military. This ruling is one more step in that direction. Let us pray for more leaders who will defend truth, protect our nation, and return us to the values that built this great country. The time for social experiments is over. The time for strength and clarity is now.
