Mike Huckabee, a Republican former governor of Arkansas, endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2024, claiming that he has done more for the nation than any other president in history.
Before endorsing Donald Trump in 2016, Huckabee, who was a presidential candidate himself, compared his choice of the former president to choosing a skilled surgeon with a flaw.
“How could I possibly back him, people always ask? “Well, it’s kind of like picking a surgeon to operate on a member of my family,” I say. “If I had to choose between a kind, loving, prayerful surgeon with a pastor’s bedside manner and one who had never successfully performed that specific surgery,” he reasoned.
“Or I could choose a surgeon who was brash, impatient, and grumpy, with the bedside manner of a playground bully, but he’d done that procedure hundreds of times before.” “I’d go with the surgeon with a shady demeanor but skilled, knowledgeable hands,” he added.
Huckabee concludes that former President Donald Trump did more to execute America First policies than other presidents of his era, including Ronald Reagan.
According to Huckabee, leaders like Kennedy and Reagan were “more articulate and had a more engaging sense of humor.” “Some people, such as Lyndon Johnson, were very knowledgeable about legislation.” Some individuals, such as Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, were truly good and kind. No president, however, has ever helped to steer this country away from the madness of communist economics and insane policies concerning the military, the courts, and energy.”
Huckabee concluded that, despite Trump’s faults, people should still vote for him.
“Donald Trump is far from perfect,” Huckabee said, “but so am I.” And you as well. But my country is something I cherish, and I don’t want it to appear in second or third place. Please, it must come first.”
