Multiple stories earlier this week said that disagreements within the campaign were still growing over who Harris would talk to. That included the news that campaign workers were asking different “journalists” who they thought should get the “big” interview.
But there’s a big catch. This won’t be a real conversation with Harris. It will be along with Tim Walz, who is running for vice president. And more than that, it will be a taped interview.
The very first thing that comes to mind is how sad this is. Harris didn’t do an interview for more than a month while she was the official and presumed nominee. After all that, the best she could do was sit down with one of her biggest fans with her running mate there to support her.
By doing a joint interview, the reporter can ask about their personal connection, which voters have no interest in. Every time you ask her how much she likes Walz and how she chose him, you get less time to ask her something important.
But Bash is such a jerk that no matter how much time you give her, she’s not going to ask any tough questions. As you can see, the left-leaning reporter often acts as a spokesperson for the Democratic Party. Most people think that this “chat” is really just a slow-pitch softball game.
Even though the odds are in her favor, this is Kamala Harris, so she could still mess this up. There’s a chance that Bash will ask the vice president a question that will make her laugh so hard she can’t stop.
For now, though, it looks like this is just a way for her to say she’s finally done an interview. I don’t think she will do many more of them after this one.
