In a bold move that has liberals fuming and pro-life Americans cheering, the Trump administration is reportedly putting a freeze on $120 million in federal funding to Planned Parenthood while it reviews whether any of those taxpayer dollars have been funneled into diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. If that proves true, the abortion giant may have just lost its golden goose.
President Donald Trump has made it crystal clear that his administration is serious about gutting the progressive bureaucratic machine that uses taxpayer money to bankroll left-wing ideology. One of his first acts in office this term was signing an executive order eliminating DEI efforts from every corner of the federal government. Now, his Health and Human Services Department is following through by reviewing Title X recipients for compliance—and Planned Parenthood just found itself in the crosshairs.
Title X is supposed to fund basic health services like pregnancy testing and STD treatment for low-income Americans, but when half of that funding—about $120 million—ends up going to the same organization that performs over 300,000 abortions a year, it’s no wonder the administration is taking a closer look.
Predictably, the abortion lobby is losing its mind. Planned Parenthood Federation of America CEO Alexis McGill Johnson claimed this move is about shutting down health centers and hurting people. What she didn’t say is that Planned Parenthood has long blurred the lines between “health care” and political activism, peddling radical gender ideology, pushing for unfettered abortion access, and inserting DEI dogma into nearly every aspect of its operations.
Democrats are, of course, circling the wagons. Sen. Patty Murray called the funding halt an “illegal hijacking” of healthcare. But here’s the truth: it’s not illegal to make sure federal money is being used as intended. What is illegal? Selling aborted fetal tissue—a practice Planned Parenthood has been accused of, and which President Trump is now promising to investigate.
“We’ll look into everything,” Trump told reporters Tuesday when asked if he’d launch a criminal investigation into Planned Parenthood’s alleged trafficking of fetal remains. And he should. Americans were horrified back in 2015 when undercover videos emerged of Planned Parenthood staff laughing about buying Lamborghinis with the proceeds of fetal tissue sales. Those weren’t conspiracy theories. They were caught on tape.
While Planned Parenthood claimed those payments were merely reimbursements, they did admit to “adjustments” in abortion procedures to obtain usable specimens. If those “adjustments” were made with profit in mind, it could be a violation of federal law.
This funding freeze is about more than money. It’s about restoring the integrity of taxpayer-funded programs and saying no to the hijacking of our institutions by radical ideologues. If Planned Parenthood is found to have misused federal dollars, the funding should be cut permanently. Period.
The Trump administration is doing what the American people elected it to do: drain the swamp, protect the unborn, and stop the weaponization of our institutions. Planned Parenthood’s days of unchecked federal handouts may finally be numbered.
