Something deeply troubling happened recently in the heartland of America, and it should concern every parent, grandparent, and patriot in this great nation. At a farmers market in Oshkosh, Wisconsin—a place where families gather for fresh produce, community, and connection—an innocent 8-year-old boy was handed a bracelet with a vile, hateful message aimed at our president.
The bracelet said, “Is he dead yet?” referring to President Donald J. Trump. Let that sink in. A child, not even old enough to understand the full weight of politics, was given a message that openly celebrated the possible death of a sitting president. The bracelet came from a booth run by the Winnebago County Democratic Party.
This is not just a case of bad taste. This is hate speech. And it’s being normalized in public spaces where children are present.
The boy’s mother, Katie Neubauer, did exactly what any right-minded parent would do. She took the bracelet from her son and told him firmly, “We don’t wear hate speech here.” She later shared how furious she was. “I had to walk away because I was seething,” she said. And who could blame her?
When she returned to confront the booth, she saw other bracelets with hateful messages like “8647.” For those who don’t know, “86” is slang for killing or getting rid of someone, and “47” refers to President Trump, our 47th president. These people weren’t hiding their intentions. They were promoting hatred and violence—toward a president, and by extension, toward anyone who supports him.
The market’s manager later confirmed that at least ten people complained about the same issue on that day. Thankfully, the market made the right decision and said that the Democratic Party booth would not return for the rest of the season. That’s a small victory, but the bigger problem remains.
We are witnessing a dangerous trend in this country. Political violence is becoming more common, and it’s almost always aimed at conservatives. President Trump himself has been the target of not one but two assassination attempts. Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a tireless advocate for American values, was murdered on a college campus. And Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro was recently targeted in an arson attempt.
President Trump has repeatedly called for peace and for both sides to lower the temperature of political rhetoric. But the radical left is not listening. Instead, they continue to spread hate, stir anger, and even encourage violence in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.
The Left knows their ideas are failing. They cannot win through reasoned debate or honest discussion. So they resort to fear tactics and emotional manipulation—even targeting children with twisted messages.
It’s time we return to a culture of respect, where political disagreement does not mean moral hatred. We must teach our children to value life, truth, and civility—not to cheer for the death of those with whom we disagree.
As Americans, we must hold the line. We must protect our children from this growing darkness. And we must never be afraid to call out evil when we see it.
This fight is not just about one bracelet at a farmers market. It’s about the soul of our nation. Will we allow hatred to poison the next generation, or will we stand up for decency, for family, and for the values that made this country great?
The choice is ours. But we must act now—before the damage becomes permanent.
