Chris Christie Really, Really Hates Trump

This week on FNC’s “Your World,” former Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ), a contender for the Republican presidential candidacy in 2024, stated that if an ABC News story on former President Trump’s aide were true, it would constitute “active witness tampering” as well as “an act of obstruction of justice.”

Neil Cavuto, the host, told the governor, “Governor, we are just getting news reports. This is an ABC News story. You’ve probably heard about the secret papers that Donald Trump had and how an assistant stated to ABC News that Trump would jot down to-do lists on a few of these documents. What do you think?”

Christie replied, “Well, this merely demonstrates how little respect he had for the documents which were made by American men and women in our military as well as our intelligence community, who put their lives at risk to get that information. So that the president can know everything.”

He went on, “But in my opinion, Neil, and after reading the report, the worst thing about it isn’t—believe it or not—that he carried out this action using secret papers. The worst part was when he contacted that assistant before she went before the grand jury and told her, You do not know anything regarding my boxes, my boxes containing documents.”

Christie said, “I mean, that’s messing with a witness’s mind on purpose. That is a way to get around the law. If she’s saying the truth, I mean. Then we have more proof that will be shown at the trial, and so this case is going to be tried. And this represents the guy we want to put forward as our candidate? We think this guy can beat Joe Biden. He will spend the majority of March, the entire month of March, and a great deal of April arguing for himself in a federal hearing in Washington, D.C., instead of going on the campaign road to attack Joe Biden. We need to choose someone who will do everything they can to beat Joe Biden and bring conservative Republican principles back to the White House and the way Washington is run.”

He ended by saying, “This is just one more example of how Donald Trump’s irresponsible behavior will be revealed slowly but surely and used against him by Democrats as well as others if he becomes the nominee. We have to stop that right away. Thank him for serving our country. Send him back to Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster and find a candidate who will defeat Joe Biden and also win this race.”
