Sometimes, a story breaks that shows us just how far some on the political left are willing to go to stir up fear and division. This week, Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota crossed a dangerous line. She accused Republicans — without a shred of evidence — of wanting Kamala Harris dead. That’s not just wrong. It’s reckless. And it’s a sad sign of how broken our political conversation has become.
Omar made her wild accusation during an interview on a left-wing internet show. She claimed that conservatives “don’t mind” if former Vice President Harris is killed. Her reasoning? President Trump ended her Secret Service protection on September 1, 2025. But here’s the truth: that protection had already lasted beyond the legal limit. The law gives former vice presidents six months of protection after they leave office. Harris got more than that. She was protected until well into August. So where is the wrongdoing?
There isn’t any. But facts don’t matter much to people like Ilhan Omar. She would rather paint her political opponents as villains than take a moment to speak honestly and fairly. She would rather stir up hate than help bring peace. And that is dangerous.
What’s worse is the timing of her comments. Just one day earlier, Charlie Kirk — a young conservative leader and founder of Turning Point USA — was shot and killed during a public event at Utah Valley University. Kirk was known for going to college campuses and standing up for the traditional values that made this country great. He wasn’t afraid to speak the truth, even when it made people uncomfortable. For that, he was hated by the radical left. And now, he is gone.
Instead of showing sympathy, Omar used her platform to insult Kirk’s memory. She said people who speak kindly about him are “full of it.” That kind of hatred doesn’t belong in public life. It doesn’t belong in America.
Let’s be honest: political violence is a serious issue. But it’s not Republicans who are encouraging it. It’s the left. For years, they’ve turned a blind eye when mobs tear down statues, burn cities, or threaten Supreme Court justices. They excuse it. They defend it. And then they turn around and accuse conservatives of being the problem.
We saw this during President Trump’s campaigns. He survived multiple attempts on his life — one in 2016, two just last year in 2024. Did Ilhan Omar speak out then? Did she demand more protection for Trump and his family? Of course not. Because to her, political violence only matters when it affects her side.
That’s not how a free country works. In America, we believe in law and order. We believe every life has value — no matter their politics. And we believe that leaders should act with responsibility, not throw gasoline on the fire to score points on cable news or social media.
It’s time for Ilhan Omar and others like her to take a hard look in the mirror. Words have power. And when a sitting member of Congress says that her political opponents don’t care if someone is murdered, she is playing with fire. She is dividing this nation even further. And for what? A few headlines? A few cheers from the angry mob?
We must reject this kind of rhetoric. We must remember that our nation was built on honor, truth, and respect for our fellow citizens — even when we disagree. We must return to those roots, not run from them. And we must pray that our leaders find the courage to speak with wisdom, not with hatred.
This is not a game. Lives are at stake. And the American people deserve better.
