The New York Post said it paid a professional lip reader to find out what the two Democrats said when they talked behind closed doors, which was caught on camera but too far away for a microphone to pick up.
Many people were interested in the Post story because it gives a new view on the conversation.
The Post says Biden said, “She’s not as strong as me.”
The lip-reading showed that Obama said, “I know… that’s true.”
He then said, “We have time.”
Biden said, “Yeah, we’ll get it in time.”
Obama had said before, “It’s important that we spend some time together.”
The quote was taken by The Post to mean that Obama was pushing for Harris.
The Post said that the reading was done by Jeremy Freeman, who was born deaf and has lived in London. For 16 years, he has been a University College London-certified expert witness for lawyers, the police, and reporters.
The Post asked Democrats what they thought about the conversation and pointed out that Harris wasn’t directly discussed.
“From the start, a lot of people were worried that Harris wasn’t a good alternative to Biden, who was clearly a bad choice. So much so that several House members brought up the idea of an open convention or taking Harris and Biden off the ticket, a Democratic source told the Post without giving their name.”
“Democrats basically stole from Peter to pay Paul, and now they have to deal with a ship that people don’t like as much sinking.”
Andrew Bates, a representative for Biden, made fun of the story.
“This person can read lips? Did the standard right-wing prophet have their “out of office” sign up? Only President Biden and President Obama know what they talked about, but this was not it,” he said.
The Post said that two former White House staffers who worked for Biden and now support Harris said they didn’t believe the lip reader’s account of what was said.
