Republicans Followup Biden’s Photo-Op With Something Real

On Sunday, President Joe Biden made his long-awaited trip to the southern border in an effort to personify the adage “Too little, too late. Quick and humorous” would be the best adjectives to use to characterize the president’s visit if there were only two possible words.

Biden did not visit the “areas where illegal aliens are pouring across the border,” according to RedState’s Nick Arama, which indicates that he did not bother to consider the true effects of his administration’s immigration policies. He did, however, give the country more humorous material through yet another error when he told Salvation Army members that he “spent some time with the Secret Service in Ukraine and Poland.”

However, Biden is not the only one to have lately traveled to the border. To acquire a better understanding of the situation, a group of Republican senators also traveled to the south. Both visits followed the publication of a study in December that revealed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had lost track of more than 150,000 illegal immigrants due to a deficiency in processing. According to Fox News:

“Operation Horizon was started by the Biden administration in Nov. 2021 to track down the 150,000 released migrants and mail them their official charging papers. The ICE training DVDs, however, reveal that border officials’ capacity to track down and expel illegal immigrants was constrained.”

As you might have guessed, the Republican legislators had nothing but negative things to say about the Biden administration’s handling of the ongoing immigration issue. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) declared, “Under President Biden, every single state has turned into a border state.”

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) lambasted the White House for depending on the “catch-and-release” program, which “has to end.”

It was already obvious that there would be a significant increase in the number of migrants and illegal immigrants wanting to enter the country when Biden swiftly overturned most of former President Donald Trump’s immigration restrictions shortly after taking office. However, the migration problem brought on by the president’s policies has worsened more than was anticipated.

Another sign that this president does not take the immigration issue seriously, despite the fact that it has already had disastrous impacts on the country, is the White House’s decision to reinstate the catch and release program, which has not worked.

With the steady influx of migrants and illegal immigrants being dropped in their territories, border communities have grown overburdened. The smuggling of fentanyl across the southern border has caused a sharp increase in drug overdoses. Biden and his group don’t appear particularly bothered, though.

Biden’s trip to the southern border was merely political performance, as anyone paying attention can see. It is telling that the administration is making it more difficult for ICE to carry out its duties. The White House is not honest in any of its claimed concerns. If they really wanted to solve this issue, they would do something about it. However, they have so far opted for gaslighting rather than actual policy.
