Texas is once again leading the charge in America’s culture wars, taking a bold stand against the woke mob that has infected our public schools. With the passage of Senate Bill 10, now awaiting Governor Greg Abbott’s signature, Texans are poised to reclaim the moral foundation that built this great nation by requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom statewide.
This courageous move will impact more than five million Texas students, offering them a daily reminder of the timeless values that underpin our civilization. Predictably, the left-wing activists at the ACLU have vowed to launch an all-out legal assault, declaring the law “blatantly unconstitutional.” Yet, these same activists seem to have no qualms about pushing divisive ideologies like Critical Race Theory or gender confusion onto our children.
Dr. John Kuhn, superintendent of Abilene ISD, expressed a clear, common-sense stance when he said, “Obviously, I’m a believer and I don’t have a problem with the Ten Commandments. If there’s a law that says we must post the Ten Commandments in our classroom, we’re gonna abide by that law. We’re not lawbreakers.” This is exactly the kind of straightforward leadership we need in our schools.
The hypocrisy of the woke education establishment is staggering. These radical advocates zealously protect their own secular religions—whether it’s CRT, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or radical gender ideology—but the moment we suggest reinforcing age-old moral truths that guide individuals to respect life, property, and family, they cry foul.
Yet what about the rights of those who wish to display the tenets upon which our country was founded? Is free speech only limited to topics the far left cares about?
It’s clear why the left fears the Ten Commandments: they offer a moral compass that undermines their agenda. After decades of watching left-wing activists systematically strip public schools of any mention of God, faith, or traditional morality, Texas conservatives have finally drawn a line in the sand. While radical teachers have been busy indoctrinating students with nonsense about gender fluidity and white privilege, they’ve neglected the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
The Texas Public Policy Foundation exposed this disturbing reality in a 2023 video, highlighting teachers openly bragging about their indoctrination efforts. One self-described “non-binary” teacher proudly declared their success in confusing impressionable students. Parents have been barred from school board meetings, minors exposed to pornographic books in school libraries, and educators have actively encouraged children to question and even change their genders.
The results have been catastrophic. As one concerned parent noted, only 19 percent of Texas curriculum meets grade-level standards, while a mere 30 percent of students read at grade level. The woke agenda isn’t just morally bankrupt—it’s actively sabotaging our children’s education.
In contrast, the Ten Commandments offer clear, concise principles that every child can understand and benefit from. Principles like honoring one’s parents, refraining from theft, and speaking truthfully aren’t controversial—they’re essential. The commandment against false idols strikes directly at the heart of the left’s obsession with identity politics, exposing their divisive ideologies as hollow substitutes for genuine morality.
Louisiana passed a similar law in 2024, and predictably, the ACLU immediately attacked it in the courts. That case is now pending before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Texas is right to stand firm in the face of such threats. Our children deserve better than the moral relativism and confusion peddled by left-wing activists.
As the Bible warns in the book of Peter, “Be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Texas is heeding this call, standing firm against those who would corrupt and mislead our youth.
Displaying the Ten Commandments is a powerful step toward reclaiming our educational system and restoring the moral clarity that built America. It’s time we reject the left’s false idols and return to the timeless truths that have guided our nation through its greatest challenges. Texas is leading the way—once again reminding us that our rights come from God, not government.
