On a CNN town hall this week, former President Trump said that “unless you are a very stupid person, you see” that the presidential election in 2020 was “rigged.”
“Polls indicate that you are at the forefront of the Republican race at this point, but you also happen to be under active investigation by the feds for attempting to reverse the 2020 election outcome,” said host Kaitlan Collins, alluding to an inquiry into Trump’s conduct after the election. “Your first term came to a close with a violent riot at the Capitol, and you have yet to openly acknowledge the outcome of the 2020 election. Why should Americans re-elect you as president?”
“Because we performed beautifully,” Trump remarked. “We received 12 million additional votes than we did in 2016, as you may recall. In fact, I believe we performed far better in that election and received the highest number of votes for a president of the United States ever.”
He said, “Unless you’re a really ignorant person, I believe you understand what occurred when you look at that outcome and when you look at what occurred throughout that election. Most individuals in this audience comprehend what occurred, with just a small minority not understanding it (perhaps a handful). It’s a tragedy that we had to experience that manipulated election. They looked at it and saw precisely what everybody else saw—it’s horrible for our nation everywhere. Even if you just look lately, the 51 intelligence operatives who made a difference were significant. The FBI and Twitter, or rather the Twitter files, show a significant disparity.”
Collins declared. “Mr. President, let me go back to what you just stated. There was no electoral rigging. There was no electoral fraud. More than 60 judicial proceedings involving the election were lost by you and your allies. Nearly two and a half years have passed. Can you officially admit that you did not win the 2020 election?”
“Let me just continue,” Trump said. “On official cameras where they were stuffing ballot boxes, millions of votes were discovered, according to the documentary Truth the Vote.
