Trump Skyrockets In Stunning New Poll

In a significant development, former President Donald Trump has gained a substantial lead over President Joe Biden in the crucial swing state of Michigan, according to the latest CNN Poll. The poll indicates that Trump holds an impressive eight-point lead over Biden at the national level, with Trump securing 39 percent against Biden’s 31 percent. This lead becomes even more pronounced in Michigan, where Trump is ahead by ten points, leading with 50 percent compared to Biden’s 40 percent. Additionally, 10 percent of respondents in Michigan expressed their intention to support neither candidate.

The CNN survey further reveals that Trump is also ahead in Georgia, another pivotal state, by five points, with 49 percent support compared to Biden’s 44 percent. A significant factor contributing to Trump’s lead is the support he receives from voters who did not participate in the 2020 election. These voters are leaning heavily towards Trump, with a 26-point advantage in Georgia and a 40-point lead in Michigan. The poll indicates that while voters who participated in the 2020 election primarily favored Biden, their current preference is tilting towards Trump for the 2024 elections. Trump is retaining a higher percentage of his 2020 supporters compared to Biden.

To provide context, Trump won Michigan in 2016 by a narrow margin of 0.3 percent but lost the state in 2020 by 2.8 percent. The CNN poll conducted in Michigan included 1,197 registered voters and was carried out between November 29 and December 6. In Georgia, the poll surveyed 1,068 registered voters from November 30 to December 7. Trump’s lead in both Michigan and Georgia exceeds the respective margins of error for these polls.

These findings from CNN are consistent with several other polls showing Trump leading Biden in key swing states. For instance, a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll released in November showed Trump ahead of Biden in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and tying in Michigan. Similarly, a New York Times/Siena poll from the same month indicated Trump leading Biden in Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Michigan, with a five-point lead in Michigan specifically.

The trend of these polls suggests a shifting political landscape as the 2024 presidential election approaches, with Trump gaining momentum in crucial swing states that could be decisive in determining the election outcome.
