New Trump vs Biden Poll Has Washington Nervous

According to a Washington Post and ABC News survey, former President Donald Trump, a Republican, now has a significant lead over current President Joe Biden, a Democrat, in the 2024 presidential election.

According to the survey, 49 percent of participants said they would certainly or likely vote for Trump instead of Biden, or that they lean that way. Biden would only get 42 percent of the vote in that case.

That implies Trump has a 7% advantage over Biden, which is far more than the survey’s margin of error.

Overall, according to the poll’s cross tabulations, 36% of respondents say they would undoubtedly vote for Trump over Biden if he were the GOP candidate in 2024, 9% say the same about their likelihood of doing so, and 5% are leaning that way.

In the aforementioned situation, just 32% of voters said they would definitely support Biden; 6% said they possibly would; and 4% said they are leaning toward doing so.

It’s a stunning development for the former president that Trump has such an overwhelming advantage over Biden only a week after the latter began his reelection bid. The United States hasn’t elected a previous president who lost again since the 19th century, when Grover Cleveland was re-elected as president in 1892. Cleveland served as both the 22nd and 24th presidents.

Trump, the 45th president of the country, is running against Biden, the 46th, for the position of the 47th president of the United States.

Although there are other polls that show Trump to be ahead of Biden, and there is still a long way to go before the general election in November—Trump must first win the Republican nomination—this is the first poll from a mainstream media outlet that indicates Trump is the front-runner for the White House in 2023, regardless of party. Rasmussen Reports and Trump’s pollster Jim McLaughlin are two other surveys that indicate a Trump advantage over Biden, so the White House must be seeing a pattern now that it is appearing in the Washington Post/ABC News polls.

The incumbent president recently announced his bid for reelection in 2024 with a campaign video and a few public appearances, but the announcement seems to have been hastened due to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s entry into the Democratic primary. This survey also comes at a particularly turbulent time for Biden. Democrats are firmly behind Kennedy’s candidacy, and this poll also reveals astonishing support levels for Biden inside his own party.
