America’s Southern Border Descends Into A Shocking Hellscape

More than 50,000 illegal immigrants are waiting in Mexican shelters on the border to “run out the clock” on Title 42, the epidemic immigration policy that has deported nearly a million people since it was created two years ago, according to documents obtained by Axios.

Furthermore, more than 8,000 illegal immigrants are being detained every day at the border, which amounts to approximately 250,000 arrests each month.

As the Biden administration fights a lawsuit filed by 15 Republican attorneys general seeking to keep title 42 in place, it is clear that at some point the regulation will be lifted and the border will reopen.

In the meantime, Biden’s team is still unprepared for what comes next.

“According to internal records reviewed by Axios, as many as 50,000 migrants are sitting in Mexican shelters waiting for a chance to cross the border if the clock runs out on Title 42, the COVID-era regulation that restricts entry into the United States.”

That’s twice the original estimate, which came from back in March when Axios revealed government preparations for a “large-scale immigration event.”

“The administration’s internal figures now put the number of people attempting to cross the southwest border each day at roughly 8,000 — a sizable number.”

“It is a reflection of the growing number of people from Cuba, Colombia, Haiti, and Peru, as well as long-standing centers of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Mexico.”

“Every day, the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) release roughly 1,200 adult migrants and 1,300 family members into the country.”

“We’re at the peak of the surge.” said a DHS official. What’s more, non-profits that shelter illegal immigrants at the border are full up, forcing DHS to release illegals into El Paso and other US cities.

Recent news indicates that shelters on both sides of the border are filling up, including in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas.

“Some immigrants have spent months or even worked in Mexico while waiting for entry to the United States’ asylum system,” as reported by The New York Times’s Miriam Jordan.

“The Department of Homeland Security is worried about having enough money to handle the number of migrants they expect to attempt to cross, and they’ve been asking the White House for more resources,” according to NBC News.

Secretary Mayorkas continues to insist that the border is not open. He should inform those thousand-plus people who are entering the United States every day.
