Representatives Glenn Grothman (R-WI) along with James Comer (R-KY), leaders of the House Oversight Committee’s Republicans, have given Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security under President Biden, two weeks to provide information about the number of illegal aliens that DHS has released throughout American communities by means of its extensive parole system.
The use of the country’s parole authority, which permits foreigners to enter the U.S. on a very restricted, case-by-case basis, was made public when Biden assumed office in the latter part of January 2021.
Mayorkas has been given until July 7, or around two weeks, to report the actual number of illegal aliens DHS has allowed into American neighborhoods while he has been in charge, according to a letter from House Oversight Republicans issued June 23. Republicans claim:
“The Biden administration’s flagrant abuse of the parole statute proves itself by the fact that it has paroled more than one million inadmissible aliens directly into the country in just the past two years, granting it to both inadmissible aliens who present themselves at ports of entrance after scheduling appointments by using the CBP One mobile application and illegal border crossers who have been apprehended by the United States Border Patrol agents.”
“According to reports, 99% of illegal aliens who requested an appointment using the CBP One app had their requests for parole accepted in the end. Recently, the DHS declared that it will use a lottery-style method, meaning that owing to ‘a high interest’ in this program, half of the individuals seeking parole at the ports of entry are going to be chosen at random.”
“Given the enormous scheduling waiting lists at the U.S. ICE offices, illegal immigrants granted unlawful category parole under these programs would probably reside in the country for years before receiving a Notice of Appearance (NTA) in immigration courts. With two locations completely booked until May 2028 and another completely scheduled until May 2029, ICE offices nationwide have a four-year waiting list of newly scheduled appointments for processing these immigrants.”
“The Republicans also demand that Mayorkas provide ‘all records and communications showing any numeric count’ for illegal aliens who were granted parole to get into the country using Biden’s migrant mobile app in addition to those who entered the country between Ports of Entry.”
In just five months, it has been projected that the migrant smartphone app, which enables foreign nationals in Mexico to book appointments at the border, has discharged over 100,000 people into the interior of the United States.
By using the migrant smartphone app alone, DHS is on track to release well in excess of a quarter of a million illegal immigrants into the interior of the United States.
