Joe Biden is ending his presidency with a bang—or, more accurately, with a pardon pen. In a move that surprises absolutely no one, Biden has granted clemency to over 1,500 convicts, including pardoning 39 individuals for so-called “non-violent” crimes and commuting the sentences of those released on home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Leave it to Biden to focus his final days in office on giving criminals a free pass while law-abiding Americans continue to suffer under his administration’s policies.
The Associated Press reports this as the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history, a dubious honor Biden snatched from his old boss, Barack Obama, who pardoned 330 offenders before leaving office in 2017. Biden, of course, cloaked this mass clemency in the usual platitudes about “second chances” and “sentencing disparities,” claiming that many of these individuals would have received lighter sentences if convicted today. Because apparently, it’s not enough to rewrite history—Biden is now rewriting the justice system to fit his party’s soft-on-crime narrative.
“America was built on the promise of possibility and second chances,” Biden said, ignoring that possibility and second chances are harder to come by when communities are riddled with crime thanks to policies that prioritize offenders over victims. Biden’s statement that these individuals “have successfully reintegrated into their families and communities” sounds nice, but let’s not forget that the left’s version of “success” often comes at the expense of public safety.
The timing of this clemency spree is even more questionable when you consider Biden’s recent pardon of his son, Hunter Biden. That’s right—just 11 days before these mass pardons, Biden used the full weight of the presidency to sweep Hunter’s long list of legal troubles under the rug. Hunter’s crimes include everything from gun and tax violations to alleged influence peddling with Ukraine and China. Conveniently, Biden’s pardon covers any potential federal crimes between 2014 and 2024, which just so happens to include Hunter’s cozy little gig on Burisma’s board.
What we’re witnessing here isn’t about justice or second chances; it’s about protecting Biden’s legacy and, more importantly, his family. While conservatives believe in redemption for those who truly earn it, the left’s version of “justice” always seems to have a self-serving twist. Biden’s clemency spree isn’t about fairness—it’s about virtue-signaling to his base while protecting the corrupt empire he and his family have built.
This is the same Democratic Party that insists law and order is oppressive but can’t stop crying when conservatives push back against their disastrous policies. They scream about systemic injustice while orchestrating the kind of political theater that makes it clear justice only matters when it suits their agenda. Biden’s final days in office are a perfect encapsulation of his presidency: weak on crime, soft on corruption, and full of excuses.
Conservatives have always understood that a society without accountability is a society destined for chaos. Biden’s actions prove once again that Democrats will never prioritize the safety or well-being of everyday Americans. While they coddle criminals and shield their own, conservatives will continue to stand for law, order, and the principles that make this nation strong.
