Deadly Drug Threat Looms, Narcan Fails to Save

America is facing a new and deadly threat, and most people have never even heard of it. It’s called nitazene, a synthetic drug that is even more dangerous than fentanyl. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), this poison is up to 43 times stronger than fentanyl, and in some cases, it cannot be stopped by Narcan—the drug that usually helps save people from overdoses.

This is not just another drug. It is a weapon aimed at the heart of our communities. It is sneaking into the country through our southern border, often disguised as common medicines like Xanax or Percocet. Young people are dying because they think they are taking something safe. But instead, they are swallowing a drug so strong that even emergency treatments may not work.

The roots of this crisis go deep. The drug is made in China, with help from Mexican drug cartels. These evil groups don’t care about human life. They care only about profit. They keep changing the formula to stay ahead of law enforcement. And because nitazenes don’t show up in routine drug tests, many overdoses go unnoticed or misdiagnosed.

This is more than just a health problem. It is a national security issue. It is an attack on our people, especially our youth. In the past year alone, 80,000 Americans died from drug overdoses. That number is down from 110,000 the year before, thanks in part to President Trump’s strong border policies and increased enforcement. But the rise of nitazenes threatens to undo that progress.

DEA Chief Jonathan Pullen says we are “behind the curve” in fighting this new enemy. He is right. For too long, we have allowed foreign nations like China and Mexico to poison our people with little consequence. But under President Trump’s leadership, we are finally fighting back. Sanctions on China. Tariffs on Mexico. And most importantly, a serious effort to close the border and stop the flow of deadly substances.

Still, the battle is far from over. We need to do more to educate our children, our parents, and our communities. We need to bring back the idea that drugs are not just dangerous—they are deadly. And we need to hold the people who make and distribute these poisons accountable, both here and abroad.

Two young people in Houston—Lucci Reyes-McCallister and Hunter Clement—recently died after taking pills they thought were safe. Their deaths should never have happened. Their mothers are now speaking out, trying to warn others so no more lives are lost. We must listen to them. We must act.

The drug crisis in America is not just about addiction. It is about the breakdown of law and order. It is about the destruction of families. And it is about the failure of past leaders who allowed our borders to remain open and our laws to go unenforced.

But there is hope. The drop in overdose deaths shows that strong leadership works. When we enforce the law, when we protect our borders, and when we stand up to foreign threats, we save lives.

As Americans, we must not be passive. We must not accept a world where our children are killed by pills made in foreign labs and smuggled across a broken border. We must demand action. We must support our law enforcement. And we must return to the values that built this country—faith, family, and a deep respect for human life.

The threat of nitazenes is real. But so is our strength. With God’s help, and with the courage to do what is right, we can defeat this evil and protect the next generation. For the sake of our country, we must.
