Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Mon. that he will leave his government jobs in December.
Currently, Fauci serves as the president Joe Biden’s main medical adviser, the director of the (NIAID), and the head of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation.
In a statement, Fauci said, “I will be leaving these posts in Dec. of this year to explore the next phase of my career.”

He stated in a statement, “I am especially delighted to have served as Pres. Joe Biden’s Chief Medical Advisor from the first day of his administration.”
Republicans have pledged to look into Fauci’s work should they win the election in November, which also happens to be the time of his announcement.
In a December interview with Breitbart News, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) stated: “The top investigation—which I believe will mostly be done on the Oversight Committee—is on Dr. Fauci and the lab leak and the gain of function, which is the most probable scenario how we acquired this virus.”
If Republicans get control of the Senate, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has also promised to look into Fauci.
Paul said in February that, “If we win in November, if I’m the chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena authority, we’ll go for every one of [Fauci’s] documents.”
In his remarks, Fauci said that throughout the course of his career in government health, he had worked under seven different presidents.
“The world has been able to battle dangerous illnesses and contribute to the saving of lives throughout the globe,” he said. “Thanks to the power of science and investments in research and innovation. I look forward to assisting to continue doing so in the future. I am glad to have been a part of this vital effort.”
In response to the announcement of Fauci’s impending retirement, Biden thanked him in a statement.
Whether or not you have directly interacted with him, his work has impacted all Americans’ lives, he said. I express my sincere gratitude for his civic service.
