According to Trump pollster John McLaughlin, CEO and partner of McLaughlin & Associates, who spoke this week, the states of Minnesota and Virginia are being considered.
According to McLaughlin, who provided some context for the statistics, Trump appears to have a lead in the national popular vote.
There are about 100 million eligible voters who choose not to cast a ballot. At 160 million, it was a record-breaking turnout. He explained that Trump is also leading in states that are considered battlegrounds, and that number increased from 139 million in 2016. He went on to say that the Trump team has issued some shocking top-line results from surveys in Virginia and Minnesota.
“Both Virginia and Minnesota are up for grabs,” he stated, referencing an Emerson College Poll that looked at New Jersey and adding that in Minnesota, Trump had 40%, Biden had 40%, and Kennedy had 9%. Trump was within five points in the poll. He continued by stating that the poll took place prior to Trump’s massive event in New Jersey, which attracted nearly 100,000 attendees.
We lost the state by sixteen points, with Biden at forty-four and Trump at thirty-nine. When we returned to April, the Siena Poll in New York State had us within 10 points. In 2020, our total loss was 61 to 38, and we are already within 10… The political persecution of Donald Trump and the judicial lawsuit against him have the opposite effect, he said.
These developments occur while Trump keeps on track to achieve his declared objective of making a strong push for traditionally blue states, such as Minnesota and Virginia.
“Among other things, I intend to make a strong push for several states that have not been won in a long time, including Minnesota, New Jersey, Virginia, New Mexico, and New York—and I may be foolish if I do it,” Trump told Breitbart News in December.
“I am going to work them,” Trump remarked, adding that he would also perform rallies and speeches. Just because I am doing well in Pennsylvania does not guarantee that I will put in the same amount of effort there.
