Under Elon Musk’s leadership, the Trump Administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is delivering on its promise to cut bloated government spending, and this time, the Department of Education is feeling the heat.
On February 11, DOGE announced the termination of 89 contracts totaling $881 million, calling them examples of government waste and bureaucratic inefficiency. Among the contracts eliminated was one that paid a contractor $1.5 million to “observe mailing and clerical operations”—a glaring example of the frivolous spending that has plagued the Department of Education for decades.
“When not wasting money on bureaucracy, the Department of Education has been funding anti-Americanism, gender nonsense, and anti-meritocratic racism,” Musk posted on X.
In addition to cutting nearly a billion dollars in bureaucratic waste, DOGE also eliminated 29 DEI training grants worth $101 million—funding that was being used to push left-wing indoctrination instead of focusing on improving student learning.
Trump and Musk: Fulfilling a Promise to the American People
Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, Musk reminded the country that these cuts are not only necessary but have the backing of the American people who voted for real reform.
“The work of DOGE had received a strong mandate in the election,” Musk said. “Americans knew they were voting for major government reform, and that’s what the people are going to get.”
Unlike the Biden-era bureaucracy, which threw money at problems without accountability, the Trump Administration is making sure that every taxpayer dollar serves a legitimate purpose.
Left-Wing Meltdown: Bureaucrats and DEI Advocates Panic
Of course, the usual suspects in academia and leftist circles are already crying foul, claiming that DOGE’s spending cuts will somehow cripple the education system.
One education bureaucrat, who clearly enjoyed the previous era of unchecked government funding, warned that these cuts would “sow confusion and chaos” in the education system.
Another complained that these cuts will “set back efforts to improve the teaching profession and student outcomes”—a laughable claim considering America’s plummeting test scores and growing classroom failures under leftist policies.
And, of course, the race card was thrown down, with one critic even suggesting that this move is somehow a continuation of segregation-era policies—as if eliminating wasteful spending is racist.
The Bottom Line: The Department of Education Was a Slush Fund for Woke Nonsense
For years, the Department of Education has been used as a cash machine for bureaucrats, leftist activists, and useless studies—all while test scores declined, schools crumbled, and students were force-fed progressive ideology instead of real education.
President Trump and Elon Musk’s DOGE team are putting an end to the madness.
Instead of funneling money into DEI grifts, unnecessary “studies,” and contractors getting paid millions to “observe” mailrooms, the Trump Administration is ensuring that tax dollars go toward actual education.
