NATO Collapsing – Will Europe Rally Before It’s Too Late?

European leaders are panicking as President Trump takes a wrecking ball to their failed Ukraine strategy. With his push for an immediate peace deal, Trump has thrown the EU’s bureaucrats into chaos, exposing just how dependent they’ve become on American leadership—and funding—to keep their pet war going. Now, as Hungary stands firm against another blank check for Ukraine, Trump’s America First approach is forcing Europe to rethink its entire security structure.

EU foreign ministers held a crisis meeting Monday, scrambling to craft a response to Trump’s bold peace initiative. Instead of embracing negotiations, they’re still dithering over how much taxpayer money to shovel into Kyiv’s sinking war effort. The original aid package was supposed to be $6.3 billion, but Politico reports that number could balloon to $21 billion. Meanwhile, Hungary’s foreign minister made it clear that his country will not support more payments to Ukraine and is backing Trump’s push for diplomacy over endless war.

Europe’s establishment is reeling from Trump’s moves. German election winner Friedrich Merz openly questioned whether NATO will even exist in its current form by the summer. Dutch Foreign Minister Casper Veldkamp admitted that Europe is now in uncharted territory, saying: “The era that started at the fall of the Berlin Wall is now over.” The reality is setting in—Trump has changed the game, and Europe’s bureaucrats don’t know how to play without Uncle Sam writing the checks.

Meanwhile, in Kyiv, Zelensky and his EU lackeys are doing everything they can to act like nothing’s changed. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other globalist elites gathered to mark three years since Ukraine was invaded, issuing empty declarations about unity and strength. But their speeches won’t stop the fact that Trump is pulling the plug on their failed war strategy.

Trump has made it clear that he’s done financing Europe’s problems while they refuse to build their own defense capabilities. He’s also backing calls for new elections in Ukraine—a direct challenge to Zelensky’s iron grip on power. Even Elon Musk has echoed Trump’s stance, saying it’s time for fresh leadership in Kyiv or for Zelensky to step down.

The truth is, the EU’s entire security framework has been built on the assumption that America would always foot the bill. That assumption just died. Trump’s America First approach is forcing Europe to grow up, take responsibility, and stop relying on U.S. taxpayers to fund their foreign policy blunders. The days of writing blank checks to Ukraine with no accountability are coming to an end—whether Europe’s ruling class likes it or not.
