School Board Mom Gets Fired For Speaking Out–This Isn’t America

A mother of three who spoke out against LGBT education for children at a California school board session became the focus of neighborhood progressive activists and then ultimately lost her job.

But Janet Roberson is not afraid to speak out, and she says she would do it all again.

“I would definitely do it all again,” Roberson said to The Daily Wire. “Losing a job is terrible and wrong, but I am willing to do it again if I had to. Yes, for sure. To tell the truth, as well as stand up for freedom and what the US Constitution represents — 100%.”

Roberson was fired from her job as an independent worker for Compass, a big New York-based real estate corporation. Just 11 days after she spoke up during a Benicia Unified School District council meeting, she was fired by phone.

Roberson explained to the school board on April 20 that “children are asked to name their pronouns, which has now been made a part of the curriculum that is 10-years-old. It worries us that math classes are talking about gender identity. This takes time away from students’ main lessons and doesn’t help them or our community. Teaching kids that there are no rules or truths and that they can think whatever they want isn’t scientifically or even medically right. For example, the idea that a girl may choose to be a boy or a boy is able to decide to become a girl is not real and shouldn’t be taught.”

As soon as she voiced her worries, neighborhood activists pushed back against her. Two local newspapers printed letters from people who didn’t like what she said during the board meeting. According to the Vallejo Times-Herald, for instance, a former City Council prospect identified as Billy Innes calls Roberson a “Compass Real Estate agent” several times. Roberson thinks this was done to try to get her fired. Innes also says that the mother gave a “long, bigoted speech against gender-inclusive language.” He also says that Roberson’s webpage supports racism, transphobia, “anti-COVID protection,” and “material that supports Eugenics.” Roberson says that all of these claims are false and calls them frightening.

Additionally, a lady by the name of Nathalie Christian, who identified herself as the story developing coordinator on the openly left-leaning site The Benicia Independent as well as the treasurer of the group Progressive Democrats of Benicia, wrote a letter to Compass.

In the letter, Christian claims Roberson has an “anti-Black, anti-equity, anti-trans, as well as anti-choice” “agenda” and urges Compass to terminate the mother’s employment or take further legal action. In addition, the letter inquires as to Compass’ DEI policies and the manner in which the company “disciplines” employees who are “publicly using divisive, harassing, hateful, or abusive language in their private lives.”
