There was a time in this country when parents could send their children to school and trust that the teachers guiding them were people of integrity, honor, and sound moral judgment. But today, that trust is being shattered. In Holdrege, Nebraska, a shocking and heartbreaking case reveals just how far we have fallen from those values. A teacher—someone meant to protect and uplift our youth—now stands accused of one of the most vile crimes imaginable: the trafficking and grooming of a student.
Elizabeth Jamie Love, a 36-year-old teacher and coordinator with Education Service Unit 11, has been charged with sex trafficking a minor and using her position in the school system to groom that child. Her boyfriend, 42-year-old Jarid “Jack” Krause, faces charges of sex trafficking as well. According to investigators, the student came forward after weeks of inappropriate contact with the couple. What began as an abuse of trust quickly spiraled into something far darker.
Law enforcement says that Love picked up the student and brought her to her own home, where Krause then allegedly attempted to initiate sexual activity. Thankfully, the young girl had the courage to say no and leave. But the damage had already been done. The trauma of being lured by the very people entrusted with your care is a wound that does not heal easily.
Even more disturbing is what came after. The affidavit claims Love tried to cover up the incident by apologizing, telling the girl not to tell anyone, and handing her a hundred dollars. Whether she intended it as hush money or not, the message was clear: stay quiet. This is not a mistake. This is not a misunderstanding. This is evil.
Let us be blunt: this is not an isolated incident. This is part of a growing pattern across the country. Not long ago, federal agents rescued 27 victims—10 of them children—from a human trafficking ring in Nebraska. That ring was operated by illegal aliens using motels and even eyebrow salons as fronts for their crimes. Children were found in filth, abused and exploited, robbed of their innocence.
Thankfully, under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, law enforcement is finally empowered to take real action. ICE, working alongside brave local officers, is tearing down these evil networks. But the deeper question remains: how did we get here?
We got here by turning away from the values that made this country great. We allowed our institutions—including schools—to be run by people who do not fear God, do not honor the family, and do not respect the sacred duty of protecting children. We allowed the radical left to tear down moral standards, to confuse right and wrong, to blur the lines between adult and child, and to ridicule anyone who speaks up against these dangers.
This is what happens when we forget who we are. When we allow filth to pass as freedom. When we let the government become more interested in political correctness than in law and order.
