The Democratic candidate for vice president in 2024, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), was asked if it was wrong for the administration to undo the Trump administration’s border policies. He replied, “President Biden and VP Harris put forward a proposal, and what we know is that illegal crossings are down under than when Trump left office. We also know there is a way out of this problem; it’s a bill that was written by the most conservative GOP senators and Border Patrol agents.”
Barbara Barr, host and reporter for WGAL News 8, asked, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection say there were around 10 million crossings in the initial years of the Joe Biden administration. Was it a mistake to undo what former President Trump did at the border and say bad things about the wall?”
“Well, on their first day in office, President Biden and VP Harris put forward a proposal. And we know that crossings are lower than when Trump left office. We also know there is a way out of this problem; it’s a bill that was written by the most conservative GOP senators and Border Patrol agents. And the only reason that isn’t in place yet is because Trump wanted it to fail. Now, over the weekend, he comes up with a crazy number of ways he wants to fix the border. Donald Trump doesn’t want to make things better. Trump wants to make things worse. It gives him a way to talk about it and spread horrible and honestly just plain fake information about other people. Republican governors and mayors have told him to stop because it’s not true. He is in Aurora, CO, where the GOP mayor said none of these are true. But look, everyone in the US knows who Donald Trump is. Kamala wants what’s best for the people.”
