Trump Allies Win New Election In Germany

Alternative for Germany (AfD), a conservative party that is against immigration, won an important state election and is in the running to win another one.

Based on the most recent predictions, the AfD has 32.8 percent of the vote in Thuringia and 30.8 percent of the vote in Saxony, just one point behind the Christian Democratic Party. As of Sunday evening, it’s too close to call in Saxony, but the AfD is sure to win in Thuringia.

The AfD is happy about their win in Thuringia, which makes them an obvious national force.

The AfD’s regional leader in Thuringia, Björn Höcke, said, “We are the number one people’s party in Thuringia. We have made history by achieving this.”

There are now people who disagree with the AfD but who also agree that it is a strong force.

Surha David-Wilp, head of the German Marshall Fund’s Berlin office, said, “This is the first time since World War II that a far-right party has won an election here in Germany. So that’s pretty important. The big parties need to understand that the AfD is here to stay.”

We previously wrote about how the government is going after the AfD to stop them from becoming more powerful in the government:

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BFV) in Germany called the AFD party’s youth wing, Junge Alternative (JA), a “right-wing radical effort” at the end of April 2017. John Cody of Remix News said that BFV is Germany’s internal spy agency.

With this new classification, the government will be able to keep an eye on JA. This move is also meant to poke fun at JA’s parent party, AfD, which has been doing very well in the polls recently.

As a result of the harassment, the AfD keeps growing. Germans are happy about this because their failed national government has clearly betrayed them.
