Republican politicians expressed support for former President Trump in the midst of the “weaponization” of the legal system against President Biden’s rivals by denouncing the Justice Department’s January 6 investigation and the allegedly impending indictment of Trump.
GOP lawmakers denounced special counsel Jack Smith’s “corrupt” inquiry when Trump revealed that he was a target of the DOJ investigation.
“President Trump’s lead in the polls just became bigger. Consequently, what will the Biden Administration do next? Use the government as a weapon to pursue President Biden’s main rival,” wrote House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
“This isn’t equal justice. The American public is sick of it, and it’s wrong,” he continued.
“Joe Biden’s DOJ: Attack the Federal Courthouse in Portland? No issue. Intimidate #SCOTUS judges to sway a ruling of the court? Nothing major. But what if you are President Trump and you don’t break any laws? PROSECUTE,” wrote Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
“The American people are sick of the double standard,” he said.
Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA), the head of the House majority, commented, “Just let me get this clear: Biden’s DOJ targeted Trump again the very same week he is rising in the polls and an IRS whistleblower is giving testimony that Biden’s DOJ obstructed an IRS probe into Hunter.”
“Another blatant instance of the DOJ being used as a weapon against Biden’s political rival,” he said.
In another tweet, he said, “Imagine that if Joe Biden’s DOJ devoted less time criticizing President Trump and a greater amount of time cleaning up Democrat-run major cities overrun with massive crime and drugs.”
Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the chairwoman of the House Republican Party, criticized the “unprecedented and corrupt witch hunt” launched toward Trump “by Joe Biden’s corrupt Dept. of Justice,” calling it “just the most recent chilling chapter of the Far Left unAmerican weaponization of the criminal justice system aimed at their leading political opponent.”
“It’s certainly not by chance that Biden’s DOJ is targeting President Trump with an additional corrupt witch hunt during the very same week that IRS whistleblowers are giving testimony about unlawful corruption shielding the Biden crime family,” she added in another tweet. “Support the Republic. Support Trump. Save America!”
“Our institutions have become enforcers of the Biden administration’s partisan agendas due to the Dept. of Justice’s ongoing politicization and weaponization. It still poses a serious threat to the rule of law,” according to Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
