According to his campaign, former President Trump raised over $35 million in donations during the second quarter of 2023.
The amount raised between April 1 and June 30—more than $35 million—is more than double the $18.8 million his campaign brought in during the first three months of the year. According to Politico, the donations were divided between Trump’s campaign and his Save America PAC.
The financial figures were released more than a month after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Trump’s closest rival, declared his candidacy in the Republican primary.
Despite DeSantis’s official entrance into the campaign, the funding explosion coincides with a rise in Trump’s poll ratings.
For instance, a Harvard poll conducted in June revealed that Trump had a 67 to 33 percent advantage over DeSantis, a small decline for DeSantis from the Harvard survey conducted in May before the Florida governor joined the race.
Trump also has significant advantages over DeSantis in a number of states. According to a survey conducted in late June, Trump has a 23-point advantage against DeSantis among Republicans in South Carolina.
According to a late-June survey, Trump has a 28-point advantage against DeSantis among Republicans in New Hampshire.
Furthermore, Trump was discovered to be up by four points and 19 points, respectively, in straw polls throughout Wisconsin and Colorado.
Trump has a 43-point advantage against DeSantis in New York, where 61 percent of possible GOP primary voters back him. This has prompted New York representative Elise Stefanik (R) to urge the GOP to unite behind Trump’s candidacy.
Stefanik stated to Breitbart News this past week that “now is an ideal moment for Republican voters to join forces behind his presidential campaign and concentrate on regaining the White House. The greatest option to unseat Joe Biden in 2024 is President Trump, who easily won the Republican nomination over all other candidates in the previous several months.”
The average gift to the former president’s campaign, according to a Trump campaign insider who spoke to Breitbart News, was $34, demonstrating “how clearly grassroots voters support President Trump,” the official said.
