President Trump has taken bold action to protect our country once again, this time by sending 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. These troops have one mission: to protect federal buildings, law enforcement officers, and American citizens from the rising tide of violence and lawlessness that has plagued the city for far too long.
Yet instead of thanking the President for his leadership, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is throwing a fit. He’s calling the deployment an “invasion,” as if sending our own troops to protect our own people on our own land is somehow wrong. This is the kind of backwards thinking we’ve come to expect from far-left leaders like Pritzker. They see chaos and crime not as problems to solve, but as tools to use for political power.
Let’s be honest. Chicago is a city in crisis. Violent crime is out of control. Federal immigration agents are being attacked in the streets. Just last month, mobs of rioters surrounded ICE vehicles in Broadview, Illinois. They threw tear gas, slashed tires, and tried to intimidate law enforcement officers just for doing their jobs. These are not peaceful protests. This is not free speech. This is an assault on law and order.
President Trump saw what was happening and acted. His administration’s “Operation Midway Blitz” is already getting dangerous criminals off the streets—illegal immigrants with long records, including gang members and violent offenders. But that’s not enough when local leaders like Pritzker refuse to cooperate or even acknowledge the problem.
Instead of working with the federal government, Pritzker is threatening to sue. He’s quoting the Posse Comitatus Act and pretending that the President doesn’t have the power to act. But the law is clear. Under U.S. Code 10 § 12406, the President can call up the National Guard in times of rebellion, invasion, or when it is necessary to enforce the law. And make no mistake: what we’re seeing in Chicago is nothing short of rebellion against the rule of law.
The President has made it clear that this action is not about politics. It’s about protecting American lives. He even said he believes some politicians in Chicago are living in fear—not of the President, but of the violent groups they’ve allowed to grow in power under their watch. And who can blame them? When you let the mob rule your streets, you eventually become a prisoner in your own home.
The truth is, the people of Chicago—and of every American city—deserve safety. They deserve to walk down the street without fear of being shot. They deserve leaders who care more about their lives than about scoring points on cable news. Unfortunately, many Democrat-led cities have chosen to side with lawlessness instead of law enforcement.
We’ve seen it in Chicago. We’ve seen it in Portland, where a federal judge blocked the President’s attempt to send help. President Trump called the judge’s ruling “shameful,” and he’s right. Judges and politicians who tie the hands of law enforcement are not helping—they are hurting the very people they claim to care about.
America is a nation of laws. Without those laws, we have no order. Without order, we have no freedom. That is why President Trump is stepping in where others have failed. He is not invading Chicago—he is rescuing it.
Our country needs strong leadership now more than ever. We need to return to the values that made this nation great: respect for authority, pride in our country, and a belief in right and wrong. President Trump is showing that leadership. And while some may scream and cry and stomp their feet, history will remember who stood up when it mattered most.
