President Donald Trump isn’t playing games with Washington insiders. On Wednesday, he shot down a weak Senate budget proposal from Sen. Lindsey Graham, instead throwing his full support behind the House GOP’s stronger America First budget. The House plan, unlike Graham’s, delivers everything Trump promised in one sweeping package.
Trump: Pass the Full America First Agenda
Trump made his stance crystal clear on Truth Social.
“The House and Senate are doing a SPECTACULAR job of working together as one unified, and unbeatable, TEAM, however, unlike the Lindsey Graham version of the very important Legislation currently being discussed, the House Resolution implements my FULL America First Agenda, EVERYTHING, not just parts of it!” Trump posted.
“We need both Chambers to pass the House Budget to ‘kickstart’ the Reconciliation process, and move all of our priorities to the concept of, ‘ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.’ It will, without question, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The House resolution is a powerhouse. It slashes wasteful spending, extends Trump’s historic tax cuts, and tackles the border crisis head-on. It proposes:
- $4.5 trillion in tax relief
- $4 trillion in debt limit increases
- $2 trillion in mandatory spending cuts
Meanwhile, Lindsey Graham’s weak $340 billion Senate bill drags its feet on Trump’s tax relief and America First priorities, setting them aside for a second bill later.
House GOP Backs Trump’s Bold Plan
House Republicans are lining up behind Trump. Speaker Mike Johnson, along with Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain, issued a statement making their commitment clear.
“House Republicans have now cleared a critical hurdle to delivering on the major priorities of President Trump’s America First agenda,” the statement read.
“This is the start of the process, and we remain laser-focused on ultimately sending a bill to President Trump’s desk which, among other things, secures the border, keeps taxes low for families and job creators, restores American energy dominance, and makes government work better for all Americans.”
Lindsey Graham’s Weak Bill Falls Short
Graham attempted to sell his plan as a step toward securing Trump’s priorities. He highlighted the bill’s border security measures and military funding increases. But Trump isn’t settling for half-measures.
Graham’s bill lacks the firepower to fully secure the border, cut taxes, and unleash American energy. Trump’s House-backed plan forces Democrats to choose: do they secure the border and help working Americans, or do they keep pushing their reckless spending and open-border policies?
The Path Forward: Will the Senate GOP Fall in Line?
With a 53-47 Republican majority in the Senate, the GOP has the numbers to pass a strong budget through reconciliation—bypassing the filibuster and sending it straight to Trump’s desk. But the question remains: Will weak Republicans cave, or will they finally get in line behind Trump’s America First agenda?
The battle is on. Trump has made it clear that this is the moment for Republicans to stand strong. No more weak deals. No more excuses. It’s time to pass one big, beautiful bill that puts America first.
