In California today, parents and teachers are once again being pushed aside by liberal judges who seem more interested in politics than in protecting children or upholding the Constitution. A recent ruling by a panel of left-leaning judges has blocked a decision that would have stopped California schools from hiding gender transitions from parents. This is yet another example of how far the radical left is willing to go to keep parents in the dark and push their social agenda in our nation’s classrooms.
Let us be clear: children are not the property of the state. They are the responsibility of their parents. For generations, that truth was understood by all decent people. But in today’s upside-down world, the Democratic machine in California has turned schools into places where parents are treated like strangers and teachers are forced to lie or stay silent. Under current state policies, schools are allowed—sometimes even required—to keep secret when a child begins to identify as a different gender. That means a boy can start going by a girl’s name, using girls’ bathrooms, and dressing differently, and his parents may never be told.

This is not just wrong—it is dangerous. And when a federal judge in California, Judge Roger Benitez, tried to stop it, the Democratic establishment rushed to protect its agenda. Judge Benitez, a man with integrity and respect for the rule of law, had approved a class-action lawsuit on behalf of parents and teachers across the state. He believed that parents have a right to know what is happening in their children’s lives, especially on such serious and life-altering issues.
But now, a panel of three judges, all appointed by Democratic presidents, has overturned that effort. They granted an emergency stay, which means that until further legal review, the state can continue hiding gender transitions from parents. The judges said they had “serious concerns” about how the lawsuit was handled and claimed the parents’ rights were not clearly protected by the Constitution. In doing so, they ignored the plain truth: the rights of parents to raise and know what’s going on with their children are not suggestions—they are sacred.
Let us not forget that these same judges and their allies have worked time and again to push radical policies under the false flag of “progress.” Whether it is forcing doctors and teachers into state-mandated bias training or keeping parents out of key decisions about their children, the goal is always the same—more power for the state, less for the family.
Attorney General Rob Bonta praised the ruling, saying it would “protect vulnerable students.” But what about protecting families? What about the young children who are being guided down confusing paths without their parents’ love and wisdom? What about the teachers who feel morally and legally torn between their job and their conscience?
The Thomas More Society, a group representing parents and teachers, is planning to appeal to the full court and even the Supreme Court. That’s good news. Because this fight is not over. It is a fight not only for parental rights, but for truth, for common sense, and for the future of our children.

President Trump has made it clear that the era of government overreach and leftist control must come to an end. Under his leadership, more judges who respect the Constitution and understand the importance of family are being appointed. But much damage has already been done by the judges left behind by the Obama and Biden years. It will take time and courage to undo that harm.
In the end, the question is simple: who do our children belong to—their parents, or the state? For those of us who believe in faith, family, and freedom, the answer has never changed. We will not be silent, and we will not stop fighting until every parent has the right to know and protect their own child. The future depends on it.
