L.A. Democrats Change Their Minds On Illegal Aliens

A little more than a month ago, the LA City Council decided to become a “Sanctuary City” within the “Sanctuary State” of California. Now, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass (D) says that illegal immigrants aren’t welcome in the City of Angeles, which is a big change from what she said before.

Bass’s new criticism comes after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott spent months sending illegal aliens to L.A. by bus.

Bass informed Marla Tellez, L.A. Fox anchor that “Los Angeles had not sent out an invitation requesting for people to come. This is a political action.”

At first, Bass was open to the newcomers, and her Democrat coworkers worked together to show that Abbott was wrong. They claimed that L.A. would accept these migrants, which was the opposite of what the Texas governor was trying to do.

Bass stated in June, “Los Angeles does not represent a city that is driven by hate or fear, and we are not going to be swayed or influenced by petty politicians messing with people’s lives. We are a city that tries to treat everyone with respect and kindness, and we are going to continue working closely alongside non-profit groups like the L.A. Welcomes Collective, in addition to collaborating with our County, State, and Federal partners.”

Eunisses Hernandez, a member of the LA City Council, even said that Abbott’s acts were the reason why they were working for a sanctuary city that accepts everyone.

“We are trying to make L.A. a sanctuary city precisely because of these risky activities by far-right, feeble-minded politicians who rely on showmanship rather than genuine leadership,” Hernandez claimed. “Los Angeles was founded by immigrants, and immigrants are the reason it flourishes. We are going to continue to strive to be a place where all people, no matter who they happen to be or where they’ve come from, are treated with respect.”

That sounds like an open invitation.

On June 9, the LA Council approved a law that gave Hernandez what she wanted. Now, all they need is some papers to make it clear that they are a sanctuary.

Bass should probably stop that, or else she will likely see a lot more illegal immigrants to come. Alternatively, she could join the Republican Party and place pressure on Democrats who were elected to the federal government to finally protect the border. It’s up to her to decide.
