Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) continues to cling to her narrative about the events of January 6, 2021, as though her political career depends on it—and perhaps it does. In her latest appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Pelosi declared, “The violence didn’t end that day,” and took another swing at President-elect Donald Trump by claiming he “called out to these people to continue their violence.” Pelosi, never one to miss a dramatic flourish, tied the incident to the attack on her husband, asserting that Paul Pelosi’s injuries were part of some grand continuation of that day’s events.
Four years after the Capitol riot, Pelosi and her Democrat allies still use January 6 as their political trump card—pun intended. Trump’s announcement that he’ll consider granting clemency to some of the individuals who participated in the Capitol protest has sent the left into predictable hysteria. Pelosi decried it as “strange” and implied that it’s unbecoming of a president to even entertain the idea of forgiveness for those involved. Forgiveness, of course, being a virtue the left suddenly remembers when it suits their agenda.
Former Capitol Police officers like Aquilino Gonell and Harry Dunn have also chimed in, with Gonell melodramatically calling Trump’s clemency pledge “a betrayal” and Dunn suggesting it represents a lack of accountability. It’s as if they’ve forgotten the way Democrats ignored actual riots in 2020, when businesses were torched, lives were ruined, and police officers were attacked in the name of social justice. Accountability, apparently, only matters when it’s politically expedient.
Trump, on the other hand, understands something Pelosi and her cheerleaders don’t: that January 6 has been weaponized to smear his supporters and distract from the real issues facing this country. Granting clemency to those unfairly targeted in the left’s political witch hunt is about more than forgiveness; it’s about restoring justice in a system rigged against conservatives. Trump knows the difference between peaceful protesters and actual criminals—something Democrats conveniently ignored during their summer of riots.
While Pelosi clings to January 6 as her political lifeline, the rest of the country has moved on. Americans care about securing the border, revitalizing the economy, and ensuring their children aren’t indoctrinated in schools. They’re tired of Pelosi’s melodrama and the left’s obsession with painting Trump and his supporters as villains. Come January 20, Trump will focus on real issues, not theatrical distractions. Pelosi can keep her performances for CBS, but America is ready for leadership that puts the people first.
