In the Illinois 15th Congressional District Republican primary race this week, far-right candidate Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) beat incumbent Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL).
With more than 50 percent of the votes counted, Miller leads Davis 57.10% to 42.90%.
The win comes after weeks of Miller drawing a sharp distinction between herself and Davis, who has voted for twice-failed presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
“My opponent Rodney Davis cast a vote against Trump. He aided Hillary. It was claimed that he voted for Hillary in 2016, a betrayal of his voters,” Miller said on Breitbart News Saturday.
Miller went on to say that, had Davis gotten his way, Hillary Clinton would have been president, and the country would have had “the most liberal court in history.” In other words, the recent victories for life and the Second Amendment could not have taken place.
“And we not only would not have had this victory of Roe v. Wade being overturned, but it also would have been a devastating defeat for our Second Amendment rights,” Miller said. “It was MAGA versus the establishment RINO in this race.”
During her interview, Miller identified herself as an America First supporter.
“They’ve betrayed the American people, their constituents, and the Constitution, including our Second Amendment rights… This is a major issue for my constituents. My opponent has long been in favor of red flag gun confiscation. The January 6th Commission was a fraud voted for by my opponent.”
On behalf of all “MAGA patriots in America,” Miller attended a rally in Mendon, Illinois, this week, where she joined former President Trump. Miller appeared with him onstage at the event and praised him for the “historic victory” for life on the Supreme Court during her remarks.
However, Davis has called Miller “catering to the extremes,” claiming that she is “unfit for public office.”
